open source means that the source (code) is available for you in me. that means that we can see how it was done and therefore modify it or make programs for it. mozilla is a browser that is OS, and an OS OS is Linux. very customizable..

An OS OS is Linux of course, open source means more than just free; the source codes are also free and available to anyone who wants it. And OS is also free to be a base for a derived work; but the derived work must display academic honesty and share the same licensing.
