I would say 8 out of 10 did the crime. There are innocent people everyday that get locked up and didnt do it.

I'd say probably a third of the people did not do the crime. I have two nephews. One of them is doing 15 years for a crime committed by the other. The other one just did 7 years for a crime that didn't even happen. If you can't afford a lawyer and have to have a court appointed one you are usually pretty much screwed. Both my nephews were told by their court appointed attorneys that if they had $25,000 they would get them out of jail time. In both cases the crimes were not investigated thoroughly or the cops would have known whether a crime was committed or. if so, who did it.

Usually when people get arrested it's for good reason. They were at the scene of a crime, or caught doing the crime, or hard evidence points to them. I'd say that 99% of the time the person who is actually found guilty of crime really is. I think its very rare for innocent people to be persecuted and convicted for something they haven't done. Everyone screams "I'm innocent," even when they're not, so you can't go by that. Look at the fact--that will almost always point to a persons guilt or innocence.

more importantly, how many people feel they did not commit a crime. the prisons have more people for consentual crimes than for violent crimes. i'd say, (been to the slammer) at least 90 percent admit to the crime. i have been punished for a crime i did not commit, still fighting it though
