I'm looking for bars or other buildings that were used as Speakeasies or illegal bars during prohibition. I know that there were a lot around Chinatown, and I know that there are more than just one, so if you have one that you know of, please respond. Also, if you know anything about the building or if you can see inside it, let me know.

Yes! Tons of them, mostly around Chinatown/North Beach. Since most of the buidings there now were constructed just after the earthquake, in the ten year period starting in late 1906- early 1907, many of the current buildings were active during Prohibition.

Too many to list them all, but I think the best of them is Bix, now fully restored and operating as an upscale restaurant/jazz club. It's beautiful inside, and the food is quite good too.

I have a friend who lives in Eureka Valley who's house was a speakeasy. He still has the bar stored in his garage!

The tenderloin also had a lot of speakeasies. Graft was lengendary in the region which meant that the cops were eating tender loins not hamburger thus the name.
