If you are using Windows ME and it can do everything that you want it to do, it would better to stick with it.

Windows XP requires higher specifications than ME and your laptop may not meet the recommended specifications, perhaps only the minimum. Your laptop would most probably be using Pentium II or III and has 64 to 128 MB RAM. At the least, you would probably need to upgrade the laptop's memory capacity in order to use XP. Upgrading to Windows Vista is not advisable.

Decide what you want the laptop to do. If it is Internet surfing, send/receive emails, chatting online and some word processing, there is no need to change Windows. Otherwise, you may only end up with a slower laptop.

first you need to buy it, if it is windows any version of xp or vista, you install them the same way. First you need the disk of the operating system. you put into your cd drive, then restart the computer. when the computer boots, you will see commands like "press f2 for setup" or "press f11 for boot menu". you look for the boot menu one and click it. Then it will give you a list of devices to boot from, you choose the cd-drive and then it pretty much self-explanatory.
