Hello, my friend just told me today that she saw my name on a list of students they were dropping from high school. It's is not official, and I know I can continue attending, because I am not failing any classes, my only problem is that I am abesnt a lot, without any medical excuse, or some type of notice. I really do NOT want to get dropped, and I hope when I go to school tomorrow, I can fix this situation. I honestly think I am a good student, and I like school, but I'm just absent a lot because of my asthma, or any otherhealth issue I may have, HOWEVER, I do not go to the Hospital/Doctor, because I know that my immune system is strong enough to recover on it's own, and eliminate any sickness I may have. So, my question is, do you think everything will work out fine? and, I will continue going. I am much better now (health wise), and am certain that if they do not drop me, I will attend school every day (unless excused). So, any advice you can give me on this situation? Thank You!

Your health condition should already be noted with your school and in your file that you have asthma. If this is your legitimate reason for missing so much school, then your parents already know how much school you have missed and a note from either one of them should satisfy and rectify the attendance problem. The next time you do go to the doctor, have the doctor write a note for you explaining your health problem; you may even be able to get the doctor's office to contact your school in regard to your health. Being over-zealous or confident about your own immune system and what it's abilities are, really is not based on your opinion of how healthy you think you are and what it can or can not overcome because if it is true, then there is no MEDICAL reason for you missing so much school. Adolescent asthma is something that you may outgrow but cutting class or leaving school early will turn into a habit that will haunt you once you begin a regular full-time job. Stay in school as long as you can and further your education, that is the healthiest thing you can do for yourself.

This reminds me of an old Mr. T quote "Don't be a fool; stay in school"
I can appreciate the fact that you rely on your immune system to get you over any ailments you may have. However, your school may require you to get a doctor's note and attend some Saturday school. Most states require students to attend an established minimum number of days per school year/semester. Talk to your counselor and see what options you have and be sure to get your parents involved.

Do you mean you might be suspended or expelled?

Get a doctor's note to explain your absences-- they probably aren't going to buy your self-diagnosis.
