There is this song from the movie " Man on The Moon" it's called "This Friendly World" by R.E.M., Andy & Tony.It's a great song.......& if you see the movie you'll really be touched.
There is another song from the 80's called "That's What Friends Are For" by Elton John,Dionne Warwick, Gladys Knight and Stevie Wonder.
These two songs are definately my favourites.........once you listen to them may be you'll get to like them too......

HAve you ever heard of the Eraserheads? They were a local Philippine band but toured the States.
I'd say, they're song "Minsan" is a great sad/friendship song. The title means "Once." It talks about two friends, who got separated as time went by. But they still think of each other often. The line "Ngunit kung sakaling mapadaan, baka ikaw ay aking tawagan. Dahil minsan tayo ay naging tunay na magkaibigan." Means:
"If I ever pass by, I might call you. Cause once, we were the best of friends."

Have you listen to any Japanese songs lately? usually they got some great sad songs like Final Distance from Utada Hikaru or Hanabi episode 2 by Ayumi Hamasaki. for friendship song i like Jack Johnson's Upside Down.
