I don't know how to explain how good the PS3 is, but my friends, those who own the PS3 said that it was good, they have the game called Resistance: Fall of Man and they played like crazy and it was really good, wait for some more months and then they will release games from Xbox 360 or new games like GTA IV, Smackdown vs. Raw 2007, Saints Row, and more.

1. Blu-ray.
2. It plays PSX and PS2 games.
3. Web browser
4. Multi-media machine.
Best way is to make a deal with them. Tell them that you'll do more chores. If you're still in school, tell them that if you maintain a certain GPA, they get the PS3 for you. If you drop below the agreed upon GPA, they can take it lock it up, sell it, whatever. Say it's an early birthday and Christmas present.
Since when did the PS3 games cost 80 bucks? Whoever said he paid 80 bucks for the PS3 games obviously got screwed, or a 360 fanboy, or he doesn't have a PS3. Last time I checked, the games are only 60 bucks.

The only fact is it is a blue ray dvd player. So, if your family enjoys watching dvds, esp. together, or your dad likes high def tvs and surround sound and electronic stuff you could go on that. It is the cheapest blue ray dvd player out there are $600 where a plain blue ray dvd is about $1000. Yet, really as of now it is still a waste of money it's still even unsure if the PS3 will have a long lifetime, software makers are finding it hard to make games for the PS3. Really, you should just wait until its cheaper, but hey if you really want it. Good Luck!

It's the cheapest Blu-Ray player that'll be out for awhile. But if they're not into hi-tech gadgets or the like, you might be better off just doing extra chores around the house without them asking you to, kissing up to them, or whatever. Maybe they'll see how hard you're working for it and get you one then. Or if you're old enough, get a part time job after school, mow some lawns for the neighbors, and make the money yourself. And not only will you be earning money for that PS3, you'll learn a little about financial responsibility.

Fistly the games that r out now sucks! Theres only like 3 nice games that are out right now. secodnly the games are so damn expensive! would u pay $80 bucks for a game?? well i dont mean to sound liek ur parents but if u really want a ps3 wait a while, let the pricve go down after a year and by then more games will be out. ok sorry im an anti to ur ps3 lol bye

wait until the PS 4 is ready to come out and pay 1/3 the price for the PS3 OR offer to do odd jobs for people, mow some lawns, walk some dogs, clean some windows, get a paper route and pay for it yourself!
Is it not enough that your parents make sure you have what you NEED, and obviously a little of what you want. Instead of whining about what you don't have and trying to finagle them, be appreciative and give a little back. If you want something that bad, do something to earn it- once you have worked hard for $600.00- and seen how many hours and how much effort were involved you might think twice about what you spend it on- you might have a little more appreciation for the value of a dollar and the dedication it took to earn it and you might have a little more appreciation for what your parents do and how they budget it so you can have food in your mouth, a roof over your head and clothes on your back- everything else is lagniappe!!

ur parents are right it IS a waste of money!! but if u just have to have one, why dont u try to trade something for it. Dishes once a night for the rest of ur life maybe?? Or if ur a little older have them match u dollar for dollar that way they will only have to pay half. Good Luck raising the other half though!!

I think you are very lucky to even have an Xbox! There are a lot of children out there that don't even have the tv to play it on!
BUT..... If you really, really want one, why not offer to sell your Xbox and do some jobs so you can earn some money to HELP pay for it?

Buy a Wii instead. It will be better for you in the long run, there is some talk about microsoft and nintendo joining forces for gaming. Plus, you can sell a Wii on ebay for 1000 bucks or so and buy it yourself.
