I'm 16 weeks pregnant so I feel like it is way too early now, but is 8 months too late? I was just wondering when people usually start shopping for the baby and nursery?

It is best if you start buying baby clothes and furniture when you are 6-7 months pregnant.Don't buy too much stuff for yourself until AFTER your shower, assuming someone will surprise you with one. It's real frustrating for the shoppers if you've left them nothing to buy! Your work friends will buy you something too.
CONGRATS and good luck

cheers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is not too late now. You should start buying baby stuff whenever you feel like it but it's better to wait till you're through with the first trimester. I personally started buying as of week 13, but I am waiting on clothes as I want to know first whether it's a boy or a girl.

After you have your baby shower, then you can start buying things you didn't get that you might want to add to your gifts...You can buy little things you like here and there, I would say when you are like six months pregnant or seven...Little things that you like now, are OK like if you go somewhere and you want to make like this book of the times you hung out w/family and friends, and you see baby little things and you buy them, to show baby later on, how you were always thinking of him/her in the time of pregnancy you were in like the weeks of your pregnancy at the time you bought the item, and how many wks you were at the time, why you bought it, you collected little baby souvenirs for him/her. That's the best gift for a child to have great memories of you, and no doubt at all that your child is well loved and cared for, and the moments you could not wait to see his/her little face...

im 36 wks pregnant i just bought my babys crib and some clothes cause i didnt have a shower ...i also just bought the stroller with the carrier... its never too late unless you go into labor and you also need a carrier to leave the hospital with your baby some hospitals or should i say all hospitals dont let baby leave unless we have a car seat...so dont worry you can still buy anything right now... or when your 20 wks and on..good luck

It depends on how high risk you are I guess. I started by then. Its hard for me to get specific items where I live so to get what I wanted I had to start early. If you start not getting things and just not get a lot at any one time then it makes it easier on your wallet. If you are not sure about the sex of the baby then make sure you either wait on things that you want to be gender specific.

the best time to start buying baby stuff is usually after about 20 weeks... you usually have ultrasound at 20 weeks and if you want you can find out if it is a boy or a girl......

start shopping. most of us do it the minute the pregnancy is confirmed. don't go crazy spending money. if you have a shower, most gifts you receive will be for a newborn or the first year.
shop at yard sales for decent clothing, toys, and nursery needs.

As soon as you feel comfortable doing so.. there is no right or wrong time.....If you are going to find out the sex of the baby it may be good to wait so you can shop for girl or boy things instead of just neutral things.....Good Luck!
