(I am the second brett) - yes, after a sharp rise in the adrenaline 'fight or flight' response, the body will respond with natural pain killers, a.k.a. serotonin (and a few other compounds as well) that will make you lethargic and sleepy. quite a natural response to stress. look at where the stress is coming from, and best of all, deal with it. if you are placed in a position wherein you have to go through this on any regular basis, it is a very bad thing. this will diminish your life considerably, and likely you have no reason to endure it.

If it's severe enough to cause concern, you may have a disassociative disorder. Disassociation is a defense mechanism where certian thought processes are segragated from the rest of a person's mental activity to avoid emotional distress. But if your symptoms are mild it's probably nothing to be worried about.

Yes, Adrenaline is released, and after wards the opposite, serotonin is released to equalize.
