Absolutely nothing and what is laughable about the whole thing is that it was a Black guy who did it. On the day after the match the obsequious SA Press and ANC made a huge meal of it decrying all the "old right wingers" now living in the UK and giving them strongly worded advice about the " New South Africa." Then a week later it came out that it was a Black guy and what do you read in your Press and hear from the ANC - Nothiiiiiiiiiiing!
They just love to play the race card but when it backfires then there is complete silence. Anyway what the Hell has an old flag got to do with Sport? Many other Countries with a long history wave flags that are old without even a murmur. It doesnt even get noticed. I wonder what if anything the ANC and the Press would say if someone waved an ANC Communist flag at a sporting event? Dont hold your breath.

There's nothing terrible about it at all. The flag was never banned and within it is embedded a whole lot of South African history.
With that said, the history is not the kind of history people want to be reminded of. For most South Africans the old flag is a symbol of oppression, repression, racism and backwardness. The new flag is supposed to be a symbol of democracy. And that's where the argument starts.
I don't have any problem with the old flag, because I have come to the realization that everything about South Africa is important and that the flag is but a piece of history we will have to live with our entire lives. We can't erase the past and start anew. We, as South Africans, should be willing to accept our situation and move on from that.
I think the issue about the flag is petty and makes South Africans look pretty stupid fighting about it. The international view is that we should embrace our future and recognize our past...and I feel the same.

Nothing terrible. Even the old flag signals support for the Springboks. And the Boks can use very bit of support they can get.
It's about freedom of speech and association. It's anybody's constitutional right to display the symbols of their choice. Constitutionally you may even display the Unoin Jack when SA plays the British Lions at Loftus...if you're foolish enough. So it's also about common sense.
Unfortunately the anc doesn't have much of the latter and is starting to go azapo's (Mugabe's party) way of proclaiming that disagreeing with them is treason against the country.

Some folks feel it is a symbol of apartheid, but in my opinion as long as you don't enforce apartheid the flag is simply nostalgic.
Anyways, SA is supposed to be a free and liberal country, if you aren't allowed to wave around a old flag, then your not free, simply oppressed in the opposite way.
I love both flags, cause both form a part of our history and identity.

its just a piece of colored cloth that represented the old SA and if you have the nostalgia for it, no one should give you hell... go ahead wave your flag. (",)... i'll wave my new SA flag... it doesnt hurt us both, we can stand side by side with our two different flags and enjoy the rugby...

aww come on tshepo, give the guy a break... a flag being waved wont wipe out the nation. we can wave around the new SA flag, let them wave the old RSA flag... same difference.

Ja, neh! Now this china bull wants to wave a red flag.....oops, I am no communist. Bull, go for it. Sometime we take ourselves serious in this country. That flag won't change anything! Complaining about it will make it more attractive.

Maybe you need to answer the question why the flag was changed in the first place.
