I have purchased new pads for front and they gave me 4 pads in a small cardboard box. I have removed the "drivers-side front", wheel and have exposed the rotor and braking mechanism, Now what ? how do I remove the worn brake pads.?

Hi there!

I own a Mitsubishi montero also. You will need to remove the calipers and pry them open. Remove the pads and replace with new. have the rotors resurfaced or replaced. then just reinstall.

here is a great forum for more technical answers:

PRY THEM OFF THE CALIPER . THEN CAREFULLY INSTALL THE NEW ONES AND APPLY SOME OF THE GREASE THAT CAME WITH THE PADS TO THE BACK OF THE PADS NOT THE FRONT WHERE IT WILL MAKE CONTACT WITH THE ROTOR. KEEP THIS AREA AS CLEAN AS POSSIBLE!!!!! THEN OPEN YOUR MASTER CYLINDER RESOVOIR, USE A C-CLAMP TO DEPRESS THE CYLINDER IN THE CALIPER SO THE PADS WILL FIT. I HIGHLY RECOMEND HAVING THE ROTORS RESURFACED BY A BRAKE SHOP IF YOU FEEL A VIBRATION AT THE PEDAL AFTER YOU INSTALL THEM. DO NOT DO NOT I SAY AGAIN DO NOT FORGET TO REPLACE THE CAP BACK ON YOUR MASTER CYLINDER PRIOR TO TESTING OUT YOUR NEW BRAKES!
