No dude, I work ten hour shifts everyday! Various shifts everyday(7a-5pm, 9a-7p, 11a-9p, or 4pm-2 am) I would kill to be able to have a 9-5 job and still make good money! I know how you feel about being too tired when you get off..but, i don't think thats only 9-5ers...I guess its everyone because the only time I don't feel tired when i get off is when i work 4pm-2 am..then i have some energy when I get off. You just gotta spend your days off wisely and have fun while you can!

Just a hint, why don't you get more sleep. It's 1am here, and 11pm on the west coast. If you sleep more (8 to 9 hours a night), you will feel more refreshed and you will be able to feel less pushed. Remember to take time for yourself. Find a good book you want to read and take 10-15 minutes out of your day each day to read it. If you like puzzles, get a crossword puzzle book and do a couple each day after work or even on your lunch break. Make sure you do things for you each day. On the weekends, plan a special thing. Go out to your favorite place to eat. Also, make sure you get your household chores done on the weekends, like Saturday morning. You know, your laundry and stuff like that. Don't be so rushed in the morning by picking out clothes the night before and making sure you have the stuff you need the next morning (keys, wallet, money, whatever else you may need). If you have all that ready to go, you will not feel so anxious in the morning. Take a deep breath and just appreciate being alive. Remember that many people would love to have that 9-5 job. Be thankful you are able to work and able to get a job.

What are you complaining about? most people would love to be in the position you're in. I'm currently in a 9-5 job and feel grateful. The reason being was that I used to work in the retail industry and boy did that destroy my social life. It was shift work which consisted hours between 9am to 11pm, including weekends!!! Just take a breather and appreciate what you have. It may not even be that you are not enjoying the 9-5, it could be the actual job that you are doing, or the people that you work with. If either of those things depress you then find another 9-5 job.

Good Luck. :D

I;m with you ,hate 9 till 5, it's like a treadmill. Get up about 6.30am to get ready, leave for the bus before 8 ,arrive. Work ,10 min break all taken up by getting to the refreshment area., half hour lunch, back to work waiting for afternoon 10 min break and 5o'clock. Back on the bus, get home about 6 if your lucky.Eat have a couple of hours to do everything that needs to be done, get to bed worrying that you might sleep in .Pour misery, but the worst is the weekend, you spend all week looking forward to it and within the blink of an eye your back to Monday morning. Give me shift work or staggered hours or anything but 9 till 5.

I also hate it. I think most people do. You gotta plan your holidays in advance, get your wage at the end of each month and enjoy your time outside of the workplace.

My husband has his own business and we're lucky if we get 2 whole Sundays in a month with him! From 8am-8pm he's out working. Comes home & eats then straight into his home office to work till the wee hours!

Stick it out, enjoy the regularity and the money, but seriously appreciate your free time, go away at the weekend, take up a sport and fill those hours you have, even if you don't sleep. you'll never know how lucky you are!

I wished I can go back to the 9-5 schedule... but now due to the increase work load, I work from 10am until 8pm. With so little time for myself, I try to priortize what is important. That's the first thing I do when I get home. If you make a list of things to do outside work and prioritize it, you'll find a way to complete it all. I know this isn't the solution but it is a start.

Good luck!

It may be that you are just not used to it, or you haven't yet developed a streamlined organized way system of getting ready for it. (I.e., plan your lunches and wardrobe a week at a time). Or maybe you are in the wrong field. Does anything about your job excite you? If not, what was the fun part that made you pick that field? Maybe you can recapture that excitement or realize that your passion lies elsewhere. Nobody always likes their job, but you should at least some of the time.

of course u feel tired but u will get into the way of things after a while of working those hours. ur just not used to hard work by the sounds of it.

anyway good luck with the job and hang on in there. it will get easier soon.

I go out at weekends with the girls, clubbing and still get up for work on a saturday, might be rough but i still go. The secret is ginseng and money if you want it bad enough you will work for it.

Quit the Power Drinks and take regular Vitamins. Get inti a routine. I was a Musician (Vampire) for years. Focus on the reward at the end of the day.
You can also look for a 4/10 job and have three-day weekends.
Whatever you do, don't spend your day waiting for 5 to come around, or waiting for Friday...
You're gonna miss a lot of ****!!!

Cheers!
