i have a xeon based dual 1,7ghz processor ( upgradable to 2.4 ghz )server which supports 64 bit expansion slots...can i use it for video editing (it can support 800mhz 2gb rd rams)

No, you can't install a 16x pci-e card on to a PCI 64bit. It's totally not compatible, even physically. A 64bit PCI slot is at least twice as long as a 16x pci-e bus and the pins arrangement is all different.

No. There is very little similar about them. I was in the naming meetings and argued against the name PCI express as it is very confusing. Apparently my argument was a bit confusing too. I lost :(
