I started taking Desogen birth control pills on day 3 of my cycle. I have never taken BCPs before. I feel cramps like I am ovulating though. I have been feeling this way for a couple of days now, and I am on day 15 of my cycle.

I haven't missed or skipped a single pill. My alarm goes off at 9pm everday and that's when I take a pill.

It sounds like maybe only a couple people actually know what they are talking about. But thanks for trying to help.

Hi there dear. I am sorry that you are receiving so many confusing answers to a simple question.
You do not ovulate when you take birth control pills. If you hesitate to take my word for it please call your pharmacist and ask him, he will be happy to tell you. If that is not good enough for you just call your doctor and ask this question to his nurse or whoever takes messages for the doctor. Tell them you would like an answer to your question. I promise that they will tell you the same thing I have told you. That is how birth control pills keep you from getting pregnant. As long as you have taken at least 7 pills you will not ovulate. I promise.
I do this sort of thing for a living and I know how birth control pills work. Sometimes they will also contain a medication that would prevent a fertilized ovum from being able to implant in the uterus but most importantly they prevent ovulation.
I am sorry that you got so many odd answers.
Take care.

You don't ovulate while taking birth control pills. The first month you MIGHT ovulate and you should use a backup until your second packet, but the pill prevents ovulation. Your doctor should have explained how birth control pills works.

monitoring cerivical mucus on a similar time as on beginning controls is pointless. Your physique is tricked into thinking you're pregnant so it can't do all those issues that are frequently the signs and indications of ovulation etc.

Lady Trinity is 100% correct. You ARE NOT ovulating on the pill. Please be sure though, that you are not skipping or forgeting any of your pills.. If you did, this may be why you are cramping. be sure to put them in a place that will remind you to take them...like next to your toothbrush..you KNOW you won't forget to do that!

Considering that you are either taking the placebos or skipping them, but not starting a new pack after 3 weeks, yes.

Although you are not ovulating your body will still discard the lining of your uterus. For that specific reason you may still have the same symptoms as you did while ovulating. Please do not be concerned if there is nothing out of the usual.

Yes you should. BC only controls when you get your cycle. You should feel ovulation just as usual. Cheers!
