I really need help. Like, I need suggestions or answers before tomorrow. I have a second interview tomorrow to be a preschool teachers assistant for special education students. I think I have the job already, but theres an issue- they wanted me to give them an expectant salary I will like or want to work for(yearly) or hourly im not sure. My mom says I should say im open but that wouldnt be a good idea, because if im open to any salary I believe the company will start me off with a low salary or think Im not direct. Open seems like im not sure about how much money to ask for, seems like im not certain. My credentials are I received my associates of art in 2005. I just received my Bachelors in University Studies in May of last year and I have experience student teaching and also volunteering at elementary schools for about 7 years. Im now working on my masters degree, but how much money should I suggest for the job position $20,000 or lower or higher. please give me some suggestions

Salaries are more or less standardized. If you do not know the standard salary for that position in that geographical area and have no way of knowing, try computing how much you need.

sum up your rent and other monthly payments and expenses then multiply that by two (remember that you should save 1/2 or more of your salary)

another way is to add some percentage to your previous salary. an acceptable percentage is 25%.

If this is your first job and its an entry level position, most countries set a minimum salary. that salary is usually for unskilled blue collar jobs. yours definitely is not. so add about 50% to that minimum salary.

I guess the simplest way is for you to ask the employer if they have standard salaries. If you ask it that way, it would not seem like you do not know the salary you need to ask but rather just inquiring about the system in the organization. If they say yes, then ask how much do they pay for the position you are applying for given your qualifications. make a few adjustments to the figure they will give you taking into consideration how much you need, but never ask for a lower figure.

that way you can never feel short-changed. If while employed, you noticed a co-worker with the same qualification and same position as you getting more than you do, you can complain becaus they lied about the standard salary.

yes , i think that telling them that you are open will put you in a position where you will receive minimum. From what I understand you feel that you deserve more then that, so that should be your motivation in your offer. Make them understand that you deserve the money you are asking for. Confidence in your offer will be crucial tomorrow. And good luck.
