Though i m not a big fan of conspiracy theory..they seem to exist anyway.
Three nations attacked when Egypt seemed to try to rise and be independent (Suez War).
Israelis most fears, after the Officers took over, was what Nasser declared (he focused on development and building the country once again, he didn't mention any opposition acts or hostility with Israel) and that what they hated him about. He was a patriot. Israel doesn't want Egypt to be developed and independent.
etc.. etc..
My question is:
Assuming that we think about things like self respect, honour, independence, prosperity and sustained development of all kinds i.e. think of rising again, Do you think we will be left alone undisturbed to do so? or war or sanctions or whatever filthy means they do with the weaker nations to subdue us will be used?
I mean we are ok now because we "do as we are told" don't you think?

Mrs R,
Thank you for your enlightenement, i and many Egyptians here already know what are you talking about, i am well aware of what is going on these days. My question is somewhat broader in History of modern Egypt, its a question jumping all over the "what's going on right now" it's an assumption, a stupid question may be, but i asked it because i really interested to know the opinions of Egyptians here who i know they'll understand it right, I just want to know what others Egyptians think about that!
I know my country's history and i am aware of the s h i t happening in Egypt, so don't give yourself the right to preach me, or judge my knowledge or intentions, either you reply to the question or just don't.

Hey, moneymaker the party crasher,
Nice to see you again my zionist friend.
first of all, i don't point fingers or blame somebody else. if you read my question carefully you should find out that it's not my intention and it's not my question. and to tell you the truth, i blame "us" more than you can imagine, but still there are some external factors which count sometimes.
Nationalization of the Suez Canal has everything to do with the attack and i think that Nasser did the right thing at the time, and i don't think that you can convince me otherwise as we are standing on different grounds on this issue.
Peace

Edit:
Suez Canal was to be transferred to Egypt by the 99 years agreement somewhere in the sixties. He knew that the French and English weren't let it go easily. Nasser did that to finance the Aswan high dam after the humiliating refusal he got from americans and intl' bank.
After all has done, Nasser's plan has succeeded.
Don't forget that the people were with him, afterall Suez Canal was built by Egyptians and funded by Egypt and built on Egyptian soil.
Moneymaker, if you are interested to read about it from different prospective i recommend you read this book

you will rise when you learn to be honest with yourselves.
"conspiracy theory"! What conspiracy theory? Israelis don't want you guys to succeed? Good one! You give them so much more credit than they deserve! LOL!
You don't suppose that such thick layer of corruption in your country has anything to do with "not letting her rise," do you? Of course not!
It is once again the Jews! We can point our fingers at them, and ignore solving our real problems! We are the victim! They are the aggressor!
When Egypt was attacked, you don't suppose that the "nationalization" of the Suez Canal had anything to do with it, do you? Or you think that Nasser was fair in his decision to do so?
Produce scientists! Not some canal, and not oil will ever give you what the science will. Stop pointing your fingers and blame outsiders for your inside problems! That is the dumbest thing ever! If you keep doing it you will NEVER rise! Grow above that.
Peace.
Edit:
kalooka, can you tell me in a couple of words why you think that Nasser did the right thing at the time? I mean, he should've known that certain countries are going to be very upset over this, and might start a war, right?
Edit:
Oh, and I want peace between our nations( in case someone thinks that I am a pro-war hater.) Not the kind of peace that we have right now, where you guys hate our guts, but a true one, where we visit each other without being afraid to be blown up.
Edit:
OK kalooka, thanks for the info. I did find things I didn't know before about the Canal. Not in the book yet, but I'll get to it too.
Thanks.

I think we will not be let to rise. The challenges are getting greater now. We're not just Egypt anymore, we're Egypt, an Arab Muslim country, and all these things are being put under the spot and given bad reputation nowadays. It sometimes seems to me like it's part of an initial plan to turn west (which is definitely more developed) against Arabs and then move on with the demolishing plan.
Moreover, we have put ourselves in a bad situation by being so quiet about demanding our obvious rights and by loading ourselves with financial loans from those who wish to master us.
I think if we want to rise we have to do it very silently, without being noticed; and we should start by seriously considering unspoken of projects, inventions and solution plans to our problems, which are so far discarded in drawers of official government personnel!

you seem to know or you do know now some of the answers to your Q but do you have a new man that will not get greedy when he is in power , the police or expolice will see that he lives by thier rules its been going on to long for change,to many corrupt police sorry i said that wrong all of your police ar corrupt and they pride themselves on it.a little detective work for you to do find out who owns the cafes on the convoy runs, every body gets off the coach taxi whatever to go to these rip off Joints,
the one place I will never go back to is Egypt not until the country has a new president. a shame realy such a fantastic country. and most of the people are really nice, how do you think I know al this,

I WISH TO SAY THAT EGYPT IS IMPROVING IN ALL ASPECTS OF LIFE BUT IN A SMALLER PERCENTAGE COMPARED TO OTHER COUNTRIES AND AS AN EGYPTIAN WHO LOVES EGYPT AND LIVED ALMOST HALF OF HIS LIVE OUTSIDE EGYPT I WISH TO SEE EGYPT BETTER AND BETTER. I WAS IN EGYPT SOME WEEKS AGO AND I SAW HOPE IN THE EYES OF RICH PEOPLE AND I SAW DESPAIR IN THE EYES OF POOR PEOPLE. MY RELATIVES IN EGYPT HAVE INFORMED ME ABOUT MANY STRANGE ACTIONS THAT HAVE OCCURRED IN EGYPT. MANY OF US HAVE NO FAITH IN OTHER EGYPTIANS , THIS APPLIES AT THE FOLLOWING :
ONE OF MY RELATIVES VOTED FOR MUBARAK IN THE LAST ELECTIONS. ASKED WHY, HE ANSWERED : I DO NOT SEE IN THE CANDIDATES A RELIABLE ONE.
IS IT POSSIBLE THAT IN ALL EGYPT THERE IS NOT A RELIABLE LEADER HANDY.
BY THE WAY MY RELATIVE WAS 24 YEARS OLD.
PERSONALLY I LOST FAITH IN THE POLITICAL CORRECTNESS OF EGYPT THE DAY MUBARAK GOT THE APPROVAL OF A THIRD TERM FROM THE PARLIAMENT AND I AM ASKING THOSE WHO READ NOW HOW CAN GAMAL MUBARAK RISE SO QUICKLY IF NOT WITH THE INFLUENCE OF HIS FATHER.
I VISIT EGYPT ONCE OR TWICE YEARLY AND I THINK WE NEED TO DO MORE FOR EGYPT.
IF ALL THE EGYPTIAN JUST THINK FOR EGYPT BEFORE THINKING OF THEMSELVES WE WILL RISE AGAIN.
BY THE WAY MY SON WAS IN LUXOR WHEN MUBARAK WAS THERE AND HE WAS INFORMED THAT 25000 SOLDIERS OF THE INTERIOR MINISTRY WERE IN THE CITY FOR PROTECTION

Yeah. I agree with most of what Mrs R said. We're being subdued by ourselves not the outer forces.
The problem is that our leaders start as good people and then they turn into something else. I agree with you concerning the tripartate agreesion , but let's face it. Naser turned into a tyrant at his late days. He got the Egyptian army involved in Yemen war and after that he provoked the Israeli army by sending troops to their borders in a stupid uncalled for parade of power. Not to mention the notorious judges feuds, in which he sacked all the judges who opposed him.
Sadat too was ok. He got rid of the Israeli occupation with great wisdom .After that, he believed that he is the all-knowing God on earth. He started to send out all his political opponents to prison and he assumed all the power "being the prime minister and the president at times" . He was also the one who amended the constitution leading it to allow the president to remain in office for "indefinite terms".
To our amazement, Mubarak had a good start too. His first speech included a pledge that he wouldn't remain in office for more than two terms .Political analysers claim that the guy seemed really genuine and honest at that time. And we all know how he is now.
My conclusion is that "we" are the causes of our plight. Whenever an Egyptian holds any important position , they start to act like they r God's represenatives on that place. A great nation should never blame its miseries on external forces.
And really...I am unemployed now. A practical loser, but if after one day they appointed me a president of Egypt, or a head of any company or department, don't be amazed if I start to act like a God on earth. For I am Egyptian you know. Dictatorship is in my blood.

I think most people here misunderstood your question. They seem to believe that you try to blame some other party for all the problems of Egypt. And it seems to me that you asked what would happen next IF Egypt managed HERSELF to solve her problems, which you don't deny.

you are being left alone, you are also depending too much on other countries donations, i could go into a lot of stuff , last year alone how much did you receive, take only one town that had millions of dollars to build sewage & water systems. and new government buildings.what happens to all the millions that are generated from the tourist industry and suez, you have all of your own natural recourses,
the cheapest tomb todays entrance fee is 25Le over 100 tombs and temples in thebes alone 120le + to see the pyramid at gizza and millions of people every year go to visit these tombs alone each person that goes to egypt 100 le for the visa, so before you start asking questions about your history ask what is happening today and why what, there are no sanctions??????
(or war or sanctions or whatever filthy means they do with the weaker nations to subdue us will be used)?????/and who is building all these thousands of unused and unwanted modern developments in say hurgada.??your boss is feathering his own nest getting ready for the day he is finished so don,t ask why but who is subdueing your nation. who is free to talk oppressed by your own people,The reason I don,t want to live there at the moment no freedom of speech. you were not allowed even to look in the direction of your leader when he visits areas,
I saw this with my own eyes in Luxor a few weeks ago we where told not to go out of the Itab hotel because he was coming,we could not book in the hotel we wanted becaus his staff had taken over the hotel so he could stay there, so ask yourself these ??/
why is he afraid of his own people, a good leader has no fear from his own, and if he has no fear from his own people why would any one country oppress you, like most of you are miss informed about a lot of stuff, you want to know the truth of your country ask the poor man they stuck in Jail for freedom of speech over the internet, use the internet thats what its for no lies like you get on your tv out there,
