The Kings absolutely got cheated in the 2002 western conference. And yes, you can say free throw this free throw that, but did samaki's 3 really count? NO! So just subract 3 from game 4, and who wins? That was without a doubt, the worst officiated series of all-time for any sport in my 18 years of life.

The Kings were definitely cheated out of the championship that year. I loved that team (C-Webb, Bibby, Vlade, Peja, Hedo, B-Jax, Doug Christie). They made the NBA so exciting with their run and gun offense, and they were definitely a championship team. The officiating in the Western Conference Finals that year was some of the worst officiating ever. It's true that the refs stole the championship from the Kings and gave it to the Lakers. Go back and watch game 6 in particular, that was probably the worst officiated game of all time. The Kings were clearly the better team, and it makes me sad to know that they would have and should have won it all that year, but instead were cheated out of glory by NBA officials who wanted the Lakers to win because of marketing purposes. It happened again just last year in the Finals. Bad officiating caused the better team to lose. The NBA lost its way after the 90's. It's become rigged and biased. That Kings team was one of the greatest teams ever made and would have been back-to-back champions. (They would have won it all in 2003 if it hadn't been for Webber's knee injury). Instead, bad officiating and bad luck cheated the royal Kings out of their glory. I really miss that great Kings team.

There was some bad officiating in Game 6, but no one is talking about the bad officiating in Game 5. The free throw discrepancy in that game was pretty awful too.
It's true that Samaki Walker's three would have been wiped out in today's NBA (with instant replay), but they weren't using instant replay at the time, so we have to accept the ruling of the officials.
Despite the officiating in Games 5 and 6, Game 7 was a classic game of letting them play. If anything, the refs held back on alot of calls in that game, and to the credit of both teams, it was a dogfight. Probably the best playoff game since MJ retired from the Bulls...
In the end, the best team won, in that the team that hit it's free throws at critical moments in Game 7 won.

There was some bad calls but the better team won. That was 5 years ago, if your waiting for the Kings to go to the conference finals again to let it go its not going to happen for at least 5 more years. 10 years is a long time to hold a grudge on the officiating. It must be tough being a Kings fan. well at least you got rid of Peja. He was a p****

Yes, there were questionable calls made in those games. And yes, they did appear to swing the games and the series in the favour of the Lakers. Not dissimilar to last years Miami/Dallas Finals.

that was the kings only good shot at a title...if they were really that good they wouldnt have lost at home in those series, the only one that looked like he wanted to shoot at the end of a few of those games and those two playoff series with LA was Bibby...now theyre where they always have been, at or near the bottom of their conference...

I felt like they got cheated. The NBA officiating is one of the criticisms of the NBA.

The Robert Horry miracle three at the buzzer showed that the Lakers were destined to three-peat that year.

Wow you Sac Queens fans are still bitter about something that happened 5 years ago. Let's move on. There are several games in the NBA when the referees get it all wrong. It's human nature for them to make an error from time to time. Let it go.
