Constipation and gas often go hand in hand. So, because many pregnant women get constipated, many have a lot of gas. Constipation is a common woe as hormones slow the rate of food passing through the gastrointestinal tract and the uterus pushes against your large intestine, making it hard to have a bowel movement.
The best way to combat both constipation and gas is to prevent them. Eat a fiber-rich diet — whole-grain breads and cereals, beans, and fresh fruits and vegetables. Drink plenty of fluids every day. Use stool softeners (laxatives should only be taken under the guidance of a health care provider). And exercise regularly to keep both your body and your bowels moving!

When you are pregnant your body is working overtime big time. Gas means your body didn't easily digest what you put in the tummy. It's a body protest signal. You are overloading the body with work. You need to eat less or eat very easily digestable foods (read eat right for your blood type). Take care of your body and help it during this time. It is giving you what you want, give it what it wants...a little less work. You are throwing too much at it at once. It is getting overwhelmed. Give it less now and it will stop protesting.

I think a better question would have been "Anybody NOT experiencing bad gas with your pregnancy?" LOL!! I think it's just something we all face. I know that Tums brought great results with me - and guess what, the added calcium in there will help baby!!

YES!!!!!!!!!!! I posted a similar question yesterday and it feels good to know that i am not the only one. I have constant gas. When i say constant, i mean all the time! From the time i wake up, my tummy is rumbling and tumbling. Sometimes it comes out and sometimes it doesn't, but it is always very, very uncomfotable. I feel your pain! Goodluck!

Yes. It's very common. You can try Beano or other such meds that help with gas.
