I felt the same way when I was almost due. I suggest you wait. I had urges but I held off. You only need to buy sleepers. You will get gifts for your baby. You don't know how much your baby weighs, you don't know if your baby will be long or short, or the sex of it. You should wait. I know how anxious you can be but I would wait if I were you. My baby girl is 6 months now and there are outfits that she still fits and they are 3 months. All clothes are made differently, they may say 3 months, or 6 months but they may fit your baby different. There are clothes that are labled 6 months but they either fit or don't fit my girl. Don't waste your money yet either. For the first little while your baby will wear sleepers anyway so don't waste your money just yet, see what you get first. I didnt' shop for my daughter until she was about 3 months. I didn't take my daughter anywhere until she got her first shots. I took her to her grandparents and other relatives but not to the mall or dr's offices or anything like that. You need a few receving blankets, take them from the hospital if you can. They are great. I took 3 receiving blankets, diapers, diaper cream, baby wash cloths. Why not??? LOL.

White is a good color, for onesies and then you can always pair it with pink or blue pants.
I put yellow on my boy, but the pale green I always thought looked a bit girly.
Get size 0-3 months (most likely they will be quite big on the newborn), you'll need about 6 - 8 onsies, 3-4 pants, 4 pairs socks, 2 sweaters,
You don't need a winter coat because you'll just put blankets over the baby after baby is secured in the car seat. It's dangerous to put the baby in something thick and plush and then place in the car seat because as the baby sits there they compress the thick coat and the straps of the carseat are then not tight enough.
Congratulations and good luck!

if you don't know what sex the baby is lean toword clothes that don't scream one sex or the other greens and yellows are good colors to go with as to the size question baby clothes are labeled in months 0-3 3-6 and so on if you want your baby to be able to wear the clothes now buy 0-3 month clothes... don't buy newborn clothes as they are so small that they can only be worn once or twice.... when you buy clothes for the future think about the season when your baby is going to be the age to wear them... if you buy 6-9 month clothing now the baby will be wearing it in the summer... (if you are due soon) so think of that when you buy them... I would just buy a few things now to get through the 0-3 month period then go shopping when you find out what kind you are getting... it will be more fun that way... good luck and congrats

Don't get too many things! You don't know what size your baby will be. Some onesie undershirts and about 4 sleepers are good for a start in the 0-3 month size. This goes up to 12 pounds, so unless your baby is huge you should be ok. Yellow and green are good neutral colors, also navy, red, that type of thing.

I would buy at least one newborn outfit to take her/him from the hospital in...just to be on the safe side since most 0-3 size is usually for baby's at least 8 pounds. I didn't buy any newborn sizes at first because I figured my baby girl would be able to fit in the 0-3 size--I was sure I was having a 10 pound baby haha. Boy, was I wrong. She ended up being 6 lbs 3 oz. and the 0-3 size was gigantic on her. We got her a few little newborn outfits and she was able to fit in them for over a month so we got good use out of them.

I wouldn't buy newborn size. They usually fit 3mos right away. Same as diapers. Don't buy too many until you know how big your baby is. You can always get those gowns which come in handy for diaper changes and will fit no matter how big or small your newborn is. Go for yellows, whites and greens, that way it doesn't matter if it is a boy or girl.

dont buy too much tiny clothes, they grow out of it pretty fast. Only a couple of 0-3 mos outfits. Plenty of onesies. get a few 3-6 mos stuff. plenty of blankets and washcloths. one good blanket.
you can always shop after the baby is born to fill in the gaps, and to buy pink or blue
congratulations, and relax.
