I am student from India.I am planning to go for masters in computer science for fall 2007.There are some universities in USA which not at all ask for GRE.They just ask only TOEFL.Therefore I am not writing GRE.After getting i20 of such universities I am going to appear for visa.If visa counsellor ask me for gre score I am going to explan that gre is not required for these universities. What should I do if counsellor is not satisfied with my answer or what documents should I carry with me to satisfy counsellor that gre is not required for such universities. Is it true because of just not writing GRE visa counsellors hesitates to give visas. Also ETS has stopped gre registration in India from March 2007 to August 2007.

I did hear of a very few cases where discussion of score was the hot topic for visa interview. Especially if you have lower scores, I would recommend you justify the low score and also be prepared your other academic credentials and other achievements in the field of you major ready to be shown to the counsul officer. Bottom line is he needs to be convinced that you are a genuine candidate.

I have NEVER heard of visa interviews including a discussion of people's GRE scores. Frankly, if you got into a university then cleary whatever you had was adequate information for that university. If you have information from your university about their admissions requirements (can you print it off the Web?) then I'd take that with you just in case. But again, I'd be surprised if this came up. If it does come up, just explain.

Well its always good to be safe than sorry. Its totally upto the counsels discretion to ask for the score or not as far i know or as far as i`ve heard about it .They can ask for it or may be they wont.
I would suggest you to take the GRE test anyhow. I know about the GRE registration but precaution is better than sorry. You can inquire with the US Consulate first and then appear.

Hope this helps
