What do you live for other than "God" or "Allah" or "Jesus" or "Krishna" or other religious deities and figures? Please do not say to go to heaven either. I am looking for honest answers that come from people who do not necessarily have faith or use belief in a very popular abstract/unimaginable being as reasons to continue to live when there are so many things that disappoint and discourage people's will to live.

Curiosity.

There's many other reasons. But even if I was miserable and almost suicidal, I think curiosity would keep me going. I want to see what the future will be like. Even if it is hell-on-earth.

The world is pretty amazing these days. All kinds of stuff going on. I just wnt to see how it all turns out. I read a lot of Ancient history and like to think about how it applies to the present. It makes me feel like I am observing a new piece of the puzzle being formed as well as realizing I am living in the same chain of events the people in the stuff I read did. I just can'y wait to see what people come up with next.

Our solar system (to our knowledge) has only one planet that can sustain life. Earth. On that 1 planet in our solar system; human being's reign supreme. We have the power to create, to destroy. We are romantics, artists, philosophers, and teachers. We are really masters of our own universe. How fortunate are we have all these zillions of variables into fall into place for me & you to be sharing our thoughts about life online? I am a very negative person, I don't know if I believe in God. What I can tell you is I saw a sunset once at the Grand Canyon that made me cry. We are lucky to have every breath in our bodies. People had to invent a word and a entity called 'God' to come to terms with the beauty of life. This get's me through the nightly news. :) "won't you, come see me, Queen Jane!"

I am sort of confused by the question.

I could see why someone who did believe in a personal god/afterlife would not want to go on living simply because they have belief in something greater than themselves

so death shouldn't phase them as much as someone like myself who thinks that death is quite possibly the end of existance.

So, I guess I will say I keep living because this is my only life and I want to make the best out of the time I have.

Why do you keep living if you have eternal bliss to look forward to after this?

Why do you? Weak people have no appreciation for life. Imagine the millions of babies that don't even get a chance at life for one reason or another. Life is a trial and a test of self strength and fortitude and disappointments and things that discourage make people stronger and wiser. Mistakes are made and should be learned from.

I live to fulfill my inner desire to create and to be everything I can be in this world.
You must live and have a reason to live.
You must go on each day with a purpose.
Nothing makes one want to live more than having a dream, or as in being in love.
Are you in love? do you have a dream?

why not? dying don't sound like a whole lotta fun. because I can. for my kids. to laugh. to cry to experience it. because I don't know what the other side is like yet. but I know what's HERE. to have loved. and to love again eventually. because so many loved ones died to young to enjoy it all, maybe they live vicariously through me?!? besides, someone has to feed the dogLoL heaven can wait it'll come to soon anyway : )

Because there is good everywhere if you look for it.I do not live for God, I live for myself. I try to be kind and compassionate because it makes me feel good, not because I believe it will save me in the hereafter. I believe if we are good and kind then we are already in heaven. If we are distrustful, and hateful then we are already in hell.

Honestly, I don't believe it is my choice. When my time comes, I'll be "taking the trip" regardless of whether I want to or not. As they say, "there's a time to live and a time to die".

Because I don't want to give anyone the satisfaction of me dying yet, especially before them.

And so that I could answer your question.
