Well if you in fact have blue eyes, then I recommend using grey shades instead of black. Use a medium-dense colour for the entire eyelid. Then use the darkest colour in the crease. This is where its most important: You must blend this crease colour to get the full smokey effect. Blend this crease line up at the outer edges of your eyes and then inward towards the lash line on the outer edge. It also helps if you line your upper and lower lash lines and then blend this same crease colour along them. Now don't forget to apply generous amounts of mascara and apply a light, irisdescent shade just below your eyebrow to highlight and on the inside corners of your eye. Because this is such a harsh application, this look is best suited for evening. Keep your foundation and blush light. Some good sites to search for are Kevyn Aucoin's and other makeup companies for tips. Good Luck!

To get a great smokey eye look you must: have good quality brushes and BLEND. You need an all over the lid brush, crease brush, a blending brush and a highlighting brush. If you take good care of your brushes and wash them once a week, they will last forever! A good highlighter color is "Nylon" from Mac...looks awesome...remember that you don't always have to smoke your eyes with gray or black...you can do it in any color!

ok this was really tricky for me too but then i finally figured it out. on your whole lid youapply a light base colour( i go with gold because it shiny sheer and makes your eyes bright despite the dark ) then i take a dark colour(grey, brown ,black or blue) with a brush aplicator( i found it at wal-mart for $2) and i lightly brush it on the crease of my eye lid, smothing it to the edges of my eye and i leave a little of the bright gold just above the center of my eyeball.sometimes (if i'm going somewhere dark such as a club or crowded party) i'll use the remander of powder on the lower lid, just lightly under my bottom lashes.
