If you're planning to be a family practice doctor you need an associates degree in science with a concentration in pre-med and also forward that towards your bachelor's degree in Science and then you got 4 years of medical school. You also have to include a couple years of being a resident and an intern and then you spend 2-5 years in a specialty so roughly you'll be spending about 12 years you'll be about 34 when you get done.

i suppose you could start at the community college level but why would you? is it money? it will take around 7 years of school. i dont think that includes the internships you will have to do and you will have to pass your states medical board exam. dont let this discourage you, or anything else for that matter. if thats your dream.......you go for it. you will do great. does it take a while.....yes, but what do you think you will be doing 7 years from now if you dont do it? probably nothing in comparison to your dream. so get started. you can do it. lots of people have. if you have a family doctor, talk to him/her about it, but keep in mind if they try to discourage you.......dont listen. maybe its just burn-out talking. i say you should do it.
