my dad's pretty strict too. accually, my mom's strictier. my mom freaks when i get a guyfriend, and says i can't date until i'm 18. and i can't move out of the house until i'm 25. there's even worse. i get them good grades, do my chores, don't talk back, yada yada, and by then, they'll trust you and let you do more stuff. if you act like guys don't interest you, then they'll think u're not interested and won't be as strict. it worked w/ me.

First, you did not state your age. That will have a bearing on the answer. If you are 15 or 16 or older then there may be an issue with your dad that he is not in touch with. Have you done anything in the past to lose his trust? That could be part of the problem. My daughter is 14 and I will accompany her and a male friend to the mall or a movie. When she is 16 and able to drive I will let her go out on her own with a male friend that I have met and have met his parents. The best advice I can give you is that you must work to communicate with your dad in a way that you both are able to talk about any problem and work to resolve them together. All relationships require give and take. And when you promise to do something you must do it otherwise trust is broken and hard to get back, but not impossible. Be patient and open with your dad. He is learning too........

How old are you?? Your dad is strict for a reason. He wants to protect you. If you're too young to be dating guys...there will be plenty of time when you're a bit older. If you're already old enough..you need to ask your dad WHY he's so strict on not allowing you to have a guy friend?? TALK to him openly*~ Show him you're not a lil girl anymore and he needs to allow you to make certain decisions on your own.,that he raised you with proper values and you take that to heart*~ GOODLUCK

Don't listen to her, how old are you?..if your old enough to be hanging out with a "guy friend", then your dad should relax a little bit and trust that your not gonna become the highschool whore or something.

your father wants the best for you, but i know you want to live life a little. just be nice to him do everything he says that is the first part. second is to do things behind his back in this situation you have to live a double life. You have to plan everything from how to go out to what is time and when to do something and is it the right time. the best person who knows him is you so you know what to expect from his reactions- plan before making a move or saying something.
