The only practice a 12 year old girl should be doing is piano, ballet or a sport. She is too young to be even thinking of dating and where do you live? I have two daughters 28 and 23, and they didn't start really dating until they were 17--- kids go out in "groups" there were no single dates until it was the formal dances and that was still done as a group activity. My 23 year old doesn't even date, and she is drop dead gorgeous, trust me.

If this was your daughters idea then it means she already has some guy in mind. If you say no, she will sneak out behind your back. Allow her to have friends over your house while you are home-- you can be in another room or upstairs, whatever way your house is set up. If you still have those "baby monitors" the speak systems to listen to babies in the crib, I would suggest you hide one in the room before her friends come over. You will then hear what is really going on in her life...and then you can know if you can trust her.....but 12 is way way way too young unless you want her married by 18.

12 and I thought I had heard of it all. Do you realize that you just asked the most craziest question? That baby should be playing with barbie and tea parties. My baby is 18 and still a virgin. Keeping it to a level of respect if you want for your daughter to respect you, you must respect her. Letting her date at 12 is disrespectful to you as well as to her. Tell her that dating at this time is out of the question. I kept all my girls virgins until they graduated high school and off to college. I have a 20, 23, and 18 year old daughters as well as a 24 year old son. This is a good thing at least she has realized that she is a girl and that someday she will be old enough to date. I always told my kids that if they wanted to date, they would have to get a job and their own place. They were not ready for that because I would have cut them off, from anything. I supplied my children with Lexus for graduation from high school and a home for college. Just give her that motherly love and let her be a child while she can. Dating is out of the question right now. I know that in some continents it is legal for the child to date and become women at the age of 12 but I feel that it is immoral and disgusting.

Well, I guess you know how most of us feel about the "date" issue for a 12 y/o!! Seriously tho, "mother to mother", remove the word "date" from the vocab for awhile. Instead, encourage her to invite some friends over after school, or on a friday evening maybe even some of the other parents, as they are probably struggling with the same issue! Have a BBQ for kids and parents, talk to the other parents on the phone to invite them. This can tell you a great deal about the way the other kids are being raised as well. (Who you may or may not want your child to be "hangin' " with) Kids are inundated with images on TV, in movies, songs on the radio, CD's, etc. that tell them they HAVE TO grow up early, and studies have shown that the constant bombardment of sexual images and inuendo cause them to mature at an earlier age ... even more reason to "beware" (and be aware of) what they are exposed to!!! You are the parent, YOU set the rules, not what the "other kids" parents say or do! (and certainly not your 12 year old) Raising kids is tough, but be firm now and you won't be paying the price later (like when she is 16, 17, 18)!!
My oldest daughter, the "perfect child" had a wild streak her senior year in spite of us reassuring her that we knew she wasn't "perfect", and we were proud of her perseverence to be the best that she could be; and all her close friends respected her and looked up to her...she still had a perception that others thought she was "too perfect"! So she felt had to show them that she wasn't. However, she still managed to graduate Valedictorian, and went on to college and graduated Suma C. Laude (sorry, the "C" word was "censored"!) with a BS in Nursing - #1 in her class! The other two had their "issues" along the way and never really had the "crisis" of the senior year. They are all doing great now, and we are all very close. Good Luck!! Being a mom can be heart wrenching at times but it is soooo worth it!

A bowling alley would be by far the best place as long as they dont have huge pool hall playing area with a bunch of tattoed older guys.

Bowling alleys are with big crowds go, sometimes bunches of seniors so they'll get no privacy for hanky panky.

A small pool hall containing bowling alley would be my first choice ! & (roller skating rinks are for where the whores all go) and a movie theaters far too private. Theaters aren't filled up these on many types of movies so theres many more empty seats to make out.

good luck

You shouldn't let her date... she's 12. "Let" her hang out with her female friends, play with dolls, do whatever it is that your 12 year old girl likes to do. I dont have kids yet, but I know that there is absolutely no way that any daughter of mine would even think about dating at age 12. She has plenty of time for that, dont be in a hurry to force her to grow up.

You're 12 year old daughter should not be "dating". She's far too young. If you'd like to escort her and her boyfriend (I had one at that age, but no dating!) to a movie and pizza, that is acceptable at that age. If she has a problem with that, she shouldn't go.

12 years old is not old enough to date. Take your cild and friend to a park, a movie, a restaurant, bowling, skating, a sporting event, the library, a play BUT WITH A RESPONSIBLE ADULT

Looks like the concensus is overwhelming. 12 is far too young to date. Kids this age should be doing group activities, sports, etc.
