I was actually wondering the same thing! Just in the one episode when he's sitting on the couch with Darlene, Roseanne introduces him to Dan as "Darlene's new friend/Mark's little brother Kevin". I was curious how he went from Kevin to David. In a later episode though Roseanne makes the comment "Kevin's not even his real name Darlene just like calling him David" when referring to how David does whatever Darlene tells him to. Maybe that explains it...at least that's how I like to think of it. :)

Hope the helps..........

They change things a lot in sitcoms espically if the show or a character is new. I guess they thought he would be a better David. In Full House Jesse had a different last name than at the beginning of the season because they decided to make him greek. Same kind of thing I guess.
