at 6'1" 280, you should try a linebacker spot if you're fast enough. defense is always fun to play because you get to purposefully hit people with very little restraint. if you're not quite speedy enough but have some explosive speed, try a D-lineman. now if you have both kinds of speed and run anything under a 5.5 second 40 yard dash, then by all means try for the Fullback.

Judging by your weight you should play one or more of the line positions. You'll be able to use your weight to move people at the line. You wont know if you'll play O or D untill you put pads on. But generally, you have to be smarter to play O line than D line due to the fact that you have to memorize all the plays. On D you do more "read and react". Both are challenging and I dont mean to take away from D linemen at all. I played O Line for 4 years in High School for a very successfull program and we basically clobbered kids for fun.. A LOT of Fun!

Depends on your skills. Size is only part of the equation. Depends on your hands, if you can block, if you can tackle. You coaches will be able to access your skills and position you accordingly. With your size now, I'm thinking defensive line. Unfortunately your a little short for NFL standards for DL. So maybe tight end or linebacker.

Get off the juice, get in the books and ensure that you can get into college. From your frame standpoint, unless you grow a few inches, o-line isn't the route. If you get too bulky, you'll not have the flexibility that you need for defense. If you really want to play in the NFL, practice your long snapping. A guy I played with has been doing it for 15 years in the NFL and has played in more consecutive games than Brett Farve....

Oh, the days of high school football....brings back some memories. I played WR/DB but I spend most of my time sitting on the bench watching the game, still they were rad times tho. I got my only interception on senoir night. Anywho, why dont u play D end if your that size and really fast, I mean u could be putting the qb's face in the dirt alot/

chriszm28........

Lose 40 Lbs and play Fullback in High School if you will remain
6 feet 1 inches.....

This will make you faster, which may get you a Division I Scholarship in College....

The only problem that you have right now is that you don't know what your Height will be when you are a Senior....The best way to find out your Future height is to get an X-ray of the Spacing between your wrist.....If it indicates that you will be
6-foot 4-inches or above, play Offensive Tackle because they make alot of Money and are a commodity in the NFL.....

You need to find out what your Height will be in the Future...
The sooner you find out, the better that you will be able to plan for your future.....

Good Luck to you and I hope that you Play in the NFL....

I agree with two of the earlier posts. If you really have speed at that size you should go for Tight End or Defensive end. It really just depends on your skill set. If you can catch the ball and are a good blocker, I'd go with Tight End, otherwise I'd go with defensive end.

Defensive Line. With your size you could be a great Defensive lineman but if you're quick enough you could be a better defensive end.

Hm... i'm leaning to perhaps linebacker or possible the O-Line. perhaps decelerate on the load drop some to perhaps 210. yet save extra muscle and you have your self a gorgeous, positive linebacker. save up the good paintings and robust success!
