Prom is happening pretty soon at our school, and I was wondering if it would be weird if I were to ask a guy out to prom? Would it be awkward, or show that I have more backbone than the guy, or should the guys be the only ones to ask a girl out?

What? So ends The Women's Movement. Not with a scream, but with a stammer! Do You think that You are the first girl to ask a bloke out? Worse things than that can happen. My Wife actually proposed to Me. Ask Him and find out. It is kind of a strange experience for a Male. But don't forget to set the ground rules about His chance of getting.... You know what.
You can never be a Feminist and a Stereotype Teenage Girl at the same time. If You don't ask You will never be able to look any Male in the eye ever again.

Asking the guy could put you into a weird position where the guy could say no or avoid the question. If you have no reason to care if he says yes or no then do it but otherwise get one of your friends to tell the guy that your interested and let him ask if he is interested otherwise look elsewhere

Prom can cost a lot, so be prepared to pay for everything or at least half. If you have a relationship with this guy, even just friends, it is okay to ask him to escort you to prom.

In today's society it is quite acceptable for a girl to ask a guy. The only reason it doesn't happen more often is because the girls are cowards!
So, screw up your courage and go put you heart on the line and see. Then you will know how he takes it.

i've got not been to promenade yet, yet I even have had to ask all of my homecoming dates myself, and one became already my boyfriend. it is not uncommon and on no account discouraged, yet...i for my area felt like i became donning the pants. once you have the suitable gown, it kinda sucks.

I think it would be fine, of course the guy might see it as emasculating, or like you think he's shy.......Don't listen to me, I'm just overcomplicating things. :-P

decorate his car or front door or something...make it kinda girlie...that way it won't feel so weird.
