My doctor told me to stay away from diet drinks. He said that aspartame hasn't been around long enough to know of any adverse affects it could have on baby.
Also, some women develop gestational diabetes, so you want to be careful about sugar intake.

You shouldn't drink diet soda because of the articicial sweeteners, and they don't want you to drink regular ones because of caffiene. Any soda is acidic and may cause heartburn or acid reflux. However, one regular of caffiene-free soda a day probably won't hurt you. Remember, they didn't even know cigarettes and alcohol were bad for babies when our mothers had us, and we're all fine. The reason there are son many extra precautions today is because somebody says something could cause an issue, and everyone's doctor is going to pass on this info because hey, you're better safe than sorry. But drinking one coke isn't going to hurt anything. My friend didn't even know she was pregnant until she was six months, and she's been drinking soda all along, and her baby is a happy, healthy 9 month old now!

Limit caffeine to 300mg or less per day. Which includes coffee, tea, green tea, soda, etc.
Tonic water you are also supposed to not drink too much of. Umm which I found out way too late. But nothing happened. It's the quinine.
Also most artificial sweetners are best avoided completely during pregnancy.

Soda is not good for you in general. But if you, like me, have a soda addiction, switch to decaffeinated for a while. You really have to watch your caffeine in take. Stay away from MT. Dew. It has a lot of caffeine. And DONT drink Jolt or Red Bull.

They recommend that you don't drink more than 300mg of caffeine per day. That's the equivelent of 3 cups of coffee or 6 cans of soda. Check the caffeine content of different kinds of drinks.

Like I always say, every woman is different. What might work for me may not work for you. My doctor told me that soda is not good because of all the acid that could cause heart burn. I think you should ask your doctor and see what is best for you and your child.
