There are 3 weeks of real pills and only one week of placebo.
The last week is usually placebo.
You'll have to consider other bc for this month. Try to be better about picking up the pills next month.

Yeah, it doesn't matter if you miss the sugar pills. I never bother taking them at all. In all the brands I have used, the sugar ones are obviously different looking than the active ones, so you should be able to tell which type you missed. There is usually only 1 week of sugar pills, so no, first and last week are not both sugar.
If it were active ones that you missed, make sure you use condoms or abstain for at least 2 weeks.

If you are taking a 28 day pill, then the last 7 are placebo pills. They don't contain hormones and are just there to keep you in the habit of taking pills. If you are taking a 21 day pill, then you take the pill for 3 weeks then off 1 week, then resume....and there are no placebo pills. They all contain hormones. Either way, if you have missed the first 3 days, I believe that you have to start over. I think you can miss up to two days and then just take 2 per day to catch up. After 3 days it is too late. You can probably still take them for this month but I would definitely use some other form of birth control, otherwise you could become pregnant.

I'm not sure what type you're on, but usually only the last week are "sugar pills" The pills you take for the first 21 or 28 days are all "real pills". I took Ortho-TriCyclene and only the final seven pills weren't necessary, I took them so I wouldn't get out of the habit.
Seriously consider using a second for of bc for the next 4-8 weeks and ask the pharmasist about how to get back on schedule with your pills.

Amber Eyes is right -- three days is too long without taking a pill, and you will need backup. Your placebo pills usually are a different color than the others (although Orthotricyclen has different colors for each cycle) and are at the END of the pack. I always get my refill when I'm on my placebos so I don't forget.
If you forget a placebo, it doesn't matter.

usually the last couple are sugar pills usually brown in color. it depends when your cycle ends and when your next month starts. if you normally would be taking pills at this time you wont have the same protection as normal and might want to consult a doctor or at least read the info that comes with the pills

I thought that the sugar pills were the last ones; when you stop taking the real ones it makes your period come.

If you have a four week pack then the last week is usually iron supplements. The first week is pretty important.

my doctor told my couzin that birth control pills puts a poison in your eggs and when you have your period the dead eggs are in there . Also when you pee.
so she has her boyfriend put on 5 condoms so she can still make beautiful passionate love and doesn't have to worry about getting pregnant.
