The Sun Sign is what most people know without a doubt. It is also (usually) the most obvious part of the personality. The Sun is the conscious self. It is the behaviour one is most comfortable with. It is the every day, fair-weather self. But there is much more to you than your Sun Sign....

when emotions run high....

That's when the Moon Sign comes out. We generally react in emotional situations according to the Moon Sign. This is the primal, subconscious self. You may even fantasize about behaving more like that sign, but it may not feel natural to you unless you're filled with happiness or sadness or anger. The Moon Sign also comes out when you feel very safe - either by yourself or with people you trust.

But what about...

The Rising Sign?

This is the most difficult element of the chart to explain, but may be even more important than the Sun Sign. In a nutshell, it is the Higher Self. You came into this life with one of the 12 signs of the zodiac on the horizon. This sign represents your horizon - your aspirations, what you look for in the world, and what you want to reflect. It is not surprising that much of your outward appearance, or the way you present yourself to others is determined by the Rising Sign, (and also by any planets that were rising when you were born - the Sun, Moon and planets rule the Zodiac - so a person with Venus rising is much like a Libra or Taurus rising, and Moon rising is just like Cancer rising, etc.) We want to attract and bring into our lives that which we aspire to. A Libra rising person looks for beauty, equality and comfort - and his/her natural beauty and charm are helpful in bringing it. An Aries rising individual looks for excitement and new challenges. Her/his look of bold determination and fearlessness is conducive to finding it!

Why is the Rising Sign so important? Once you discover why you have the particular Rising Sign you do, you will be on the road to realizing and sharing one of your most powerful gifts.

MOON in TAURUS (also Moon in second house)

The moon rules the feminine resources of the world and plays an important role in your chart. From it's position by sign and house facets of your personality are found, your memories and receptivity, how you respond on an instinctual level to the world, your imagination and of, course...how you filter and sort through your emotions.
It helps identify both how you were nurtured maternally and how you in turn nurture. Likes and dislikes can be highlighted by your lunar chart as can reactions and habit patterns. It is a fascinating voyage through the female soul.

Moon in Taurus nurtures others with her solid, stable presence. She readily cares for loved ones monetarily or with gifts, either purchased or of her own creation. She appreciates natural and artistic beauty, and feels safe and protected when surrounded with music and beautiful yet practical things. She is very sensual, and is blessed with a melodious or powerful voice. In emotional situations, Moon in Taurus sticks stubbornly to whatever position she has chosen. She will not waver, and she will charge headlong into opposition.

With your moon in Taurus you possess an emotional stability that is grounded, earthy and substantial. You rarely over react and are generally tolerant and patient in expressing and utilizing your emotional energy. You have an amazing memory and the capacity to retain emotional data and imprints for long periods of time. Your reactions and instinctive responses are controlled, strong willed and self paced. You will not be hurried in any capacity from attaching emotionally to expressing yourself.

You tend to see things for their value before becoming emotionally responsive to them. You have a strong inner sense of what is what and seldom veer from your choices and beliefs. You are slow to anger but when something crosses your boundary you can have a sudden and volatile temper that usually quickly sets things straight. You never forget...but will forgive if you can see the purpose of it and the honesty behind what has occurred to upset you. It is difficult for you to work through a wound or hurt.

You have a wonderful artistic imagination that is tactile and visual. You generally like soft tones, comfortable surroundings and a feeling of security. You hate being rushed, being manipulated or feeling vulnerable.

You understand value systems and the worth of both material resources and emotional resources and can find comfort in collections. Your home is important to you and represents a symbol of security and value.

You are a protector and provide both literal stability and emotional security to those you love.

LEO RISING (also Sun rising)

Leo Rising sees the world as a warm, happy place where everyone is cared for and has the freedom to be creative. More than willing to share her own abilities, she readily takes friends and family under her wing. Leo Rising has a sunny face and disposition. She may stand out in a crowd - with either very attractive clothes or a noticeable hairstyle. It is important for her to look good. She can be dramatic, magnanimous, silly or bossy - but she is always kind.

Leo Rising is here to showcase a talent and model fearlessness

With the fixed fire sign Leo rising at your time of birth, you aim to make an impression on everyone you meet. You have a need to be recognized as a creative and self-motivated person, and to develop a sense of your own power and worth. You need to be active in some kind of creative or self-expressive pursuit in order to feel enlivened, but your pride may often prevent you from admitting your mistakes to anyone but yourself, or from changing a course of action even when it becomes plain that you are on the wrong track. You do not like to be proved wrong. You can be warm and generous, not slow to give to those who need your help, but there may be a tendency to expect something in return. You will be happier and more content with yourself when you can learn to give without expecting to receive.

The ruler of Leo is the Sun, as the ruler of your Ascendant, this planet is of particular importance in your chart.

Familiarity is important to Lunar Taureans. These people are earthy and strong-willed. They feel with their senses and they are pretty much rooted in their ways. They revel in material comforts--in fact, building a solid and comfortable home and foundation helps to keep them feeling safe and content.

It isn't wise to try to push Lunar Taureans into doing anything, but once they have made a commitment, they're persevering.

There's a steadiness to this position of the Moon that is comforting to those close to them. But the conservative streak in these natives can be maddening to more progressive personalities. They tend to go out of their way to avoid "messy" or unpredictable situations, crises, and emotional displays. Instead, they focus on creating a reliable and secure life around them. In relationships, Lunar Taureans may not easily recognize their partner's need for change, growth, or emotional stimulation.

Moon in Taurus natives are generally very romantic. Their affections are strong, deep, and unwavering. They are sentimental and warm. Since Taurus is a practical earth sign, the placement of the Moon in this sign suggests an ability to protect themselves and their own interests. They will rarely make a move without first determining that it is safe and that there's something in it for them.

Generally, Taurus Moon people have reliable instincts. They are very much tied to the physical world, and they often have a particularly well-developed sense of smell.

Relationships with people born with this position of the Moon are often quite enduring. Many Moon in Taurus people hang onto their mates, even in the face of serious conflict. Taurus is a fixed sign, so break-ups don't happen easily.

There is a serenity to them that is calming. In fact, it takes a lot to really get to them. However, they do get off-center every once in a while. They are not the most adaptable people when their own routine is interrupted, for example.

Though some Lunar Taureans might be considered anal, most simply have a stubborn streak that keeps them rather resistant to change. Rarely are they spontaneous sorts. Uncomfortable with surprises, these natives value stability. Their needs are strong but quite simple at the same time--they love the "good things" in life. The world of the five senses is all-important to these natives. Their love of stability and steadiness can make them slaves to routine. However, they are loyal and capable people.

I have a Taurus Moon rising on my Gemini ASC.

Comfort. I like comfortable weather, comfortable fabric, lots of pillows, furniture that swallows you.
If I go camping with friends I am renting the cabin rather then roughing it in the tent.
Quality is essential. I will buy a used quality item over a cheaper quality made new item.
We can be frugal but it still has to be good.

My clothes have to look good and be quality fabric. I do have a hard time throwing out those things that are tattered but feel so good.
Good food.
If my refrigerator is empty I don’t want to get out of bed.
Don’t touch my things too much.
Placid, calming, very little shocks me. People tell me I have a calming affect and they feel they can discuss anything with me. I am good at listening.

Sometimes I bore the piss out of people.

I have strong values for myself but I don’t feel that other people have to have the same values. It is a personal thing that works for me.

If I said I am going to do it, it will get done.

Stubborn? Try pushing to fast and to hard and see how impossible it is to get a bull to move. Keep it up and you’ll get a horn in the hiney.

And yeah, I’ve been told I will chew on an old bone for to long and dig it up after it has been buried to chew on it some more. I love my friends. They’re not scared to tell me my flaws.

If you were to think of your Sun sign as your soul -- your inner personality and potential -- and your Moon sign as your heart -- your emotional core -- then you could say that your rising sign is your physical self or the face you present to the world.

The Moon (to react to) in Taurus (Enduring and Possessive).

You tend to react to lasting and permanent (relatively) things in the past (passive). Your emotional expression is usually held back (fixed sign) by your practical nature (earth). Once you have formed a way of feeling about something, you may be reluctant or unable to change it (fixed). You are concerned about material security (earth) and may feel uneasy until you are secure. Many emotionally charged beliefs can come from the mother (Moon), yet you may persist with them through your life. Because you react to things in a possessive way, you may be jealous or envious.

Rising Leo (Impressive and Creative)
If your Rising Sign is Leo, you put up a very confident front. You appear as proud and sure of yourself as can be. People expect drama from you, and they will be disappointed if you don't deliver the spiritedness one counts on with the Lion-hearted. You carry yourself with distinction, and you catch everyone's eye whether you like it or not. If others see these regal Leo qualities, they may pick up on the some negative Leo vibes -- like smugness or over-the-top vanity. Despite that perceived self-interest, you're bound to be popular in whatever clique you find yourself.

Love & Blessings

It basically points to "I equate my self worth with my possessions and my job." If I hear there is going to be a layoff at work, I might get physically ill, because it threatens me and my self worth. I feel worthless if there is no money coming in. It is very important to me to have a safe haven, comfortable home., warm fuzzy blankets, lots of food in the fridge kind of thing. Money was/is very important to my parents, and I don't want to look like a failure in their eyes. I will always have a garden, or money in the bank., and it's important to me to be able to take care of myself. Generally, you will receive an inheritance. Your mom will have property to leave you, and your dad (or his family) will leave you money. Your dad appreciates the fact that you know how to manage money, and maybe has never told you, but secretely appreciates how smart and resourceful you are, and wishes your mom were more like that. Just for starters. You didn't say what house your moon was in. Still, you're either very much like your mom (or grandmother) or extremely close to her.
