It's very probable that almost all riders of sportbikes have gotten into an accident on one at some time or other. I have had several. None serious, or involving other vehicles...thank God.
New tyres was the cause of one...not broken in yet. Another time was a gravel on concrete issue. These two times were unexpected and some plastic got broke, some skin lost, bruises.
Other times, when goofing, it's sort of expected that you're gonna lay it over so you take the plastics off and make sure you've got heavy gear on. Whenever you get a new bike, it's a good idea to remove the plastics because it's likely you'll spill it a couple of times testing its limits.
And we all know that sportbike plastic is really a form of gold :)

I took a spill on my bike years ago. I was merging into a line of traffic and was leaning around the curve and got to close to the berm of the road. I went off and back on and it flipped me and I went flying over the handle bars. I was wearing a helmet that saved my life. I was about 19 or 20 at the time.

A friend of mine was racing at Elkhart lake.
He was running at 100MPH, about to pass a newer less experienced rider on a curve. The rider in front swung wide on the curve without looking to see if there was someone passing. My friend moved over a bit to miss getting bumped but that put him too close to the edge of the blacktop and he remembers seeing the hay bales coming but then the lights went out for him. He was wearing the armored suit they require for racing and a very tough "Shoei" helmet, Snell approved and received a minor concussion. Evidently the hay bales saved him from serious injury because he only had bruises and aches for about a week after.
A friend of his remembers getting bumped and going down, sliding on the pavement. He said it was weird, seemed like everything was in slow motion. He wondered when it was going to stop. Kept thinking any minute he would crash into something but he lucked out and just slid to a stop. He got on top of the bike when it went down and road it like a sled.
Most who crash remember very little of what happened.

well it was raining and i'm unexperienced, so when a car cut me off i braked to fast and and fell. everything was in slow motion and after falling i remember not being able to brethe, a couple seconds later, once i was contious i called my boss and told her i wasn't going to make it in the next day, asked how my bike was. i cracked a rib, and scrapped my knees, a month later i got back on it. it happens to everyone, just wear a leather jacket at least and a helmet cuz other wise i probably wouldnt be able to tell this without having a helmet on that day.

Happened pretty quick and hurt like hell, luckily I did not brake any bones. Also was good that I had a helmet on a long pants as well as a long sleeve shirt, as clothes were torn up pretty good.
