While it's most often very helpful to provide more details, like the filename and the message you get when you try to delete it....and why you believe it's corrupt and why it can't just stay there???

I have two "Commandments of Computing" that I teach all my clients:

1) If you're NOT SURE.....DON'T ! ! ! ! ! This specifically applies to deleting files and folders without a great deal of knowledge and assurance (and a backup or System Restore Point to which you can return if you BLOW IT! ! !) that you'll still have a bootable system after you're done. And knowing how to boot into Safe Mode so you can try to get into System Restore: Pressing F8 every second or so as the computer is running its POST (Power On Self Test, where the various things that the BIOS is doing shows onscreen or the manufacturer's Logo appears) and stopping when the Windows Boot Menu appears. Then use the up and down arrows and the Enter Key to select and start a choice.

2) SEE NUMBER ONE ! ! !

In other words, are you SURRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRE????????
Really, really SURERRRRRRRRRE ??????????

The file you may be trying to delete may be "in-use" loaded into memory) by either the Operating System or Driver, or Windows Service, or Installed Program that cannot be deleted except after booting into Safe Mode, or Stopping the Service, or uninstalling the Driver or uninstalling the Program.

So you'll have to do a little more homework to identify from whence the file came and how it might be disabled for deletion or uninstalled. Try Googling the file and identifying its source....

Last, but certainly not least: ya know, if it really isn't a virus or spyware or a trojan or worm, then just leave well enough alone...
a few junk files never hurt anyone, stop obsessing already and call your mother and talk about something other than computer files. ; - )

Good Luck

If you have a virus protector and spyware it is very easy. Just run a check of your files, at the end it will tell you which are the bad files and you delete.
If you don't have a virus protector and spyware program, go to the directory the corrupt file is in and simply delete it.(Right click and Delete it.)

depending on the file. if it's not important, just DELETE IT! otherwise, you should make a backup just in case. if it won't delete, start your computer in safe mode and delete it .
