the best way to get your cell number changed is to visit any T-Mobile service provider, you can not call them to change it unless you are on a landline (house phone) they usually have a fee for changing numbers i know cingular fee is around 30 dollars just change your number. there is no way to change your number using your phone.

Go to T-Mobile and request a number change, they will have to give you a new sim card, or reprogram the one you have.

just call T-mobile!! it's not like you're cancelling your service. my mom changed my cingular number before the contract ended and they didn't charge anything.
