There is this girl I know that has just underwent a few major surgeries one of which was a mastectomy, she was also told she had a benign tumor on the base of her spine. And also had other forms of cancer. Throughout the last two months she has been in and out of the hospital and on some instances was hospitalized for quite some time and was even said to have had her last rights read to her on a few different occasions. I have made friends with her over the internet I have never met her in person so I am not sure if this is all true or if this is being done for attention. She announced she was on chemo treatments after they found the cancer and what not but is now telling people she is pregnant but I don't know what to think of that after having a heart surgery, mastectomy surgery, tumor removal surgery, and also had a collapsed lung all in the last two months HOW DID SHE CONCEIVE IF SHE IS SO SICK?? i feel like she is lying but don't want to accuse what do you think

A teacher at my school had cancer and chemo twice. She got pregnant on the second time of having chemo. We all thought it was impossible, but she really was pregnant and had a little boy. Unfortunately she passed away when he was 2. So sad.

Most chemotherapies impair fertility. They are teratogenic, which means they cause birth defects in women who are preganant, so they are never used in pregnancy.
Chemo drugs target rapidly-dividing cells on a non-selective basis. This means that they will kill cells that divide fast, like cancer cells (which we want). The drugs cannot tell which cells to target- other fast-dividing cells are hair follicles, the GI tract, etc, and that is why you get nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and hair falling out. The fetus is also full of rapidly-dividing cells because you only have 9 months to make a baby; the drugs are fatal or destructive to the baby.
I worked in cancer a while and never met anyone who deliberately got pregnant during chemo.
Sounds like a real bid for attention to me.
I'd like to know where she got the energy to have sex if she had all this stuff in the last two months! I have yet to meet a patient whith any energy after one of those surgeries never mind three...

Perhaps she's VERY early? If she is pregnant I would be concerned about birth defects and possible miscarriage after all that she's recently been through. It's certainly possible. Stranger things have happened. I don't know why she'd be lying about that. You never know. It would be a wonderful blessing if she was pregnant. Just think positive thoughts for her. Expect the best in people... not the worst. Say a prayer for her and wish her well.
