If the people were born blind, they have no visual imagery; the dreams consist of impressions from the other senses -- touch, hearing, smell, and taste. If the people were sighted and then became blind, their dreams contain visual imagery -- but these visual dreams might cease to occur eventually

They see what everyone else sees in their dreams, colours, shapes, feeling like flying.

I'm intrigued why no one ever bothers to actually ask a blind a person.

Because 99 percent of blind people have some sight, only one percent are totally blind.

it's really up to their imagination. why don't you ask a blind person upfront? it's a more reliable answer than to ask those who can see/ who were never blind before.
