1985 Mexico City- huge earthquake, like an 8 I think. Tens of thousands of people died. This is the most populated city in the world and everyone you talked to knew someone who died or got hurt. Babies from a hospital were buried in the rubble for days and survived. There were body bags laid out in the street downtown. My mom's school was completely destroyed- everyone there died, fortunately she had stopped working there 1 month before. I was in traffic when it happened, car bounced up and down but nothing happened to us, went to school, everyone was fine, nobody had heard of any damage until I get home and it's all over the news. The next day was the aftershock and it was scary to know it was coming. Like 9 years later I was at a night club and there was an earthquake. Everyone freaked out more than normal because of what we had lived through.

I never had the chance of feeling the real earthquake. But I have experienced earthquake shaking in Disney world in Orlando. But I have designed more than ten types of equipments connected with earthquakes and Tsunami. That has proved its capability on 5 occasions including on the day of Tsunami. My quake alarm issued the warning on the day of Tsunami for 12 minutes. Some places with in our city experienced the shaking for few seconds only. I live in Chennai most affected state by Tsunami.

Been in a few. Live in Sf bay area and the 89 quake was a mover.Watching your kitchen floor roll as if it were waves in the ocean and not falling apart was magic to say the least. Ive seen the road roll and still be in tact.Thankfully I just drove over the bridge and cypress freeway 20 minutes before they collapsed killing over 40 people.
