I'm usually found reading Classic Lit. Deep and ponderous. I want something a little more light-hearted that will make me smile or just something a little on the light side. Any suggestions?

Bill Bryson is always funny....he writes travel books.

Kurt Vonneguts new book is great, he is the crochety grandfather type I wish I had - great insight into everyday occurances.

Maybe,

The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde.

I'm not exactly sure what you mean by "light," if you want something that isn't without challenge, but not philosophically heavy, and you want to laugh like you've never laughed before, go with Dead Souls by Nikolai Gogol. Funniest book you will ever read.

The Hobbit by JRR Tolkien is a wonderful tale, full of songs, adventure, and suspense. It is a wonderful book, and many like me are fans of the Lord of the Rings Trilogy, but this book is written with a lighter style. So if you like this book, then by all means check them out too.

Tim Dorsey's "Cadilac Beach" is a riot.

Donald Westlake's Dortmunder series is a lot of fun, especially the parts with the regulars at the bar arguing over the dumbest stuff. "Bad News", "Good Behavior", or "Why Me?" are excellent starting points.
