If I were to use 2 seperate PCI video cards, as opposed to using a dual-head video card, would that use up alot of memory and slow down the PC overall?

Yes and no... the situation is like this, if your motherboard has AGP or PCI-e and you use this and use the dual head, then you shouldn't see a lag...

The same should be said of running an AGP/PCI-e and a PCI, but this might cause a lag because the PCI bus is slower than either AGP and PCI-e...

if you use two straight PCI cards, then it would depend highly on your system if you saw any performance degradition... I have a friend, a graphic artist, and he runs 2 pci video cards and one AGP and he swears he doesn't see any lag...

I use a dual head video card and run 2 19" LCD monitors and i have never had any complaint with either...

Hope I have helped

The performance would be the same as using a dual-head video card. The only real differences might be the power used (not much difference) and the fact that you use two slots.

I'm setting up Crossfire, I wouldn't think it would slow it down.
