My daughter's Cocker Spaniel is often aloof. You can call her and she might look at you and she might ignore you unless you say, "treat' or something else that she really likes. She doesn't really care too much about what you want unless you have something to offer that she really likes. She is a little bit emotionally distant, i.e. aloof. But she sure is a cute little dog:)

Someone being aloof means,for example,being remote and seemingly 'above it all'-not snobbish.
