Make sure that the tip of the pen if not too pointy (I would actually mash it down some). Don't try to do the whole line at one time. Stay as close to your lashes as possible as it is better to go down into the lashes as to go up on the lid. Try this a couple of times without your eyeshadown on until you get the hang of it. It took me about a week to get it.

It is not stupid sounding. Most girls and women do not know the proper make-up techniques. Learning to apply make-up properly makes a HUGE difference in your appearance. I have two daughters and when they became make-up wearing age, I took them to a beauty consultant at the mall who taught them how to apply their make up. Something you might want to consider.
This website has a video on how to apply liquid eyeliner..watch it.
http://www.videojug.com/film/how-to-apply-liquid-eyeliner
A few tips from personal experience:
Don't use liquid eyeliner on the bottom lid, use a pencil or kohl pencil or even eye shadow instead. It's just too much for the bottom lid.
Don't open your eye until the liquid liner has dried/set
Don't pull the skin taut on your eye while applying. The reason being is...eyeliner should follow the natural curve/contour of your eyelid. If you are pulling the skin taut, when you release the skin, the eyeliner will not be smoothly following the curve of your lid.
Don't try to make one continuous long line..do short dabby strokes and then fill them in is best and easiest until you get the hang of applying it.
Don't overdo...you can always go back and add...you don't want the line too thick or dark
If this doesn't help, just search for "how to apply liquid eyeliner" and find a site that has a technique that is easy for you to do and suits your look. GOOD LUCK!!

I start on the top lid. It's easiest if you use a felt tip because you can press lightly to get a thinner line. Begin to make a thin line in the center, and as you move the liner towards the outer part of your eye, make the line thicker. On the bottom lid, start at the outer corner where your upper line ended, and lightly bring the liner towards the center. On the bottom, stop your line where the color part of your eye stops (3/4 of the way towards the center).
If there are any spots that aren't even, dampen a Q-tip and carefully "erase" any imperfections.
It takes a lot of practice & a steady hand, but the Q-tips are a huge help!!

nicely, first try with pencil eyeliner, and characteristic toddler oil to take it off if u dont like it, do it open eyes, its ordinary, commence from the top of the eyes to the conner and pass up,, do it ordinary first so u comprehend how u pick it, then , mark the top like and egipcian, seems awesome, ucan also do it interior the bottom eyes, yet little, use black interior the genuine , and shade one below, like blue, brown, pink , ur decision. Mac has a touch liquid eyeliner, waterproff, it really is impressive.

It's hard, but when I feel like messing with it....I start from the outside of my eye and just sweep it across. Don't push down much because it will just put a huge glob on your eye. Just barely touch the lid with the tip. Good Luck!

I have a great trick (because I have TERRIBLE pulse).
Start by lining with your regular pencil eyeliner, until you get your line just right..THEN trace the pencil line with liquid liner, it really gives you the line so you don't have to start from scratch.
Since I've been doing this, I've never messed up my liquid eyeliner

Just slick it on in an even SUPER THICK line across your lid, then while it's still wet take a Q-Tip or a cotton ball and whipe off any exess untill you get your desired thick or thiness! If you have to, you can wet your Q-Tip or cotton ball to make sure you get all of you exess off! It may seem like alot of work but it dosnt take that much time!

It takes practice. Don't do it slowly, chances are you'll just mess up again. Try to do it with one quick swipe. And if you mess up, clean the edges with those cotton stick things (I forgot what they're called).
