how does dorothy change throughout the film?

Dorothy is self focused at the beginning of the film. All she is concerned about is her own unhappiness and how she has been treated unfairly. By the end of the film she realizes how much she has to be thankful for, how much she is loved, how much what she does affects the lives of those who love her. She realizes that happiness is really an attitude or way of looking at things. Even though the land she travels through is colorful and beautiful compared to her home, it isn't home. It is all she was longing for back in Kansas, but now she can't wait to get back to what she once saw as a drab life. She has a transformed perspective on her life.
