How can you tell if a blue gourami fish is a male or female?

I used to have blue gouramis and i wanted them to mate just to see what it would look like. But i think they both were either male or female because all they would do was fight and bite each others tail fin.

The males are usually more colorful in Paradise. In the Paradise the females are usually smaller and more rounded. The Paradise Gourami is one of a few fish who actually can get lighter or darker due to stimuli. The males in the Blue Gourami's dorsal fin is long and pointed, while the females usually have shorter rounded dorsals. Best of Luck!
