Ok, so I just started this job with this group today. The job is basically going out and talking to people on the street and convincing them to donate money for our environmental campaign. The problem is that the managers in the office tell us that the money is going towards lobbying efforts but then the CO of the group says that not much of the money goes to toward lobbying.

I asked a few other people in the office and they said they have no idea either. I don't like the job very much but I don't really have much of an option moneywise. And although I am passionate about the environment, I don't think that I would be able to push my doubt aside and give my best to my job. What should I do?

Non-profits must disclose each year where the donations collected are spent. If you office is nto forcoming about where it is spending the money they I would be wary. Do more research on the company. If you dont feel comforatble with what they are doing then you should probably look for another position.

Weel,if I were soliciting funds for a group that can't provide straight answers as to where the money is going,I'd find something else to do quick. An organization that can't or won't tell you how the money is being spent has oversight problems at best, and that's at best.Do you really want to take the chance that you might be ripping people off.

You haven't worked at this organization long enough to know the real truth, but it sounds like there are soem problems. You can't be whistleblower unless you really know what's going on. I'd keep job hunting and look for something better for you.

With all the scam artists out there, I would be Leary to work for someone who wouldn't level with me. It's not worth the risk of getting involved with employers that may be involved in scrupulous deals. I would apply for another job, if it were me.
