i would try your primary dr first or your gynocologist.

you'd be surprised at how much these doctor's know and could save you the extra cost of having to see a specialist (even with insurance coverage, the copay for a specialist is usually higher)

if your primary or gyno dr thinks you need to see a specialist, they can refer you to the right one

hope you feel better soon

It depends on the problem you are experiencing.
Your best bet is to start with your family doctor. If you do not have a family doctor, you can go to a free clinic or if you are a teen you should have a youth clinic associated with your high school. If you are a university student, you will have a student medical office on campus.
Now, if you are having itching, redness, swelling, you may have a simple infection or blockage of your anal glands. This can be treated with creams, anti biotics and such but you need medical attention.
If you have bleeding..it would depend on the bleeding. If you have bleeding when you go to the bathroom, then you also need to be seen by your doctor as this can be a sign of something more serious going on.
If you are having bleeding, it may not be coming from your bum..it could be intestinal or from your stomach. So, if that was the case your family doctor would send you to a gastroenterologist and they would assess you. You cannot see that type of specialist without a referral from your g.p.
You will have to go to your family doc/clinic/or school doc as your first exam for this problem.
Hope that helps. I'm sure you'll be fine, but whatever it is, get it checked out, don't be embarrassed or ashamed, the doctor is there to help you and believe me, you have nothing that he/she has not seen or heard of before.

You always start by seeing your family doctor. They can actually handle many, many things, and if they can't, they will refer you to the appropriate specialist. That doctor may not practice the particular specialty that my fell you need.

First thing to do is go to your doctor. Chances are, they will send you to a specialist to have a colonoscopy performed if there is a real big problem.

You should first go to your primary care physician. If further testing/examination is required your doctor will refer you to someone else.
