I thought I mis-heard when Davis Guggenheim said, "All of us were inspired by his fight of 30 years..." but I didn't. I thought global warming was first mentioned in the 80's! Did he predict the future?

In his movie, he told the story about how he first learned about these concepts in college where he had a professor who was interested in the science of our atmosphere. So I think he's around 60, right? So I'd say he's been interested in it and talking about it for more than 30 years if my math is right.

I'm sure there's a wealth of information about it on the internet if you're interested.

People eager to lie about Gore continue to portray him as a liar. First lie, that he claims to have "invented" the Internet. Actually, Gore never claimed that he "invented" the Internet, which implies that he engineered the technology. The invention occurred in the seventies and allowed scientists in the Defense Department to communicate with each other.

In a March 1999 interview with Wolf Blitzer, Gore said, "During my service in the United States Congress, I took the initiative in creating the Internet." Taken in context, the sentence means that as a congressman Gore promoted the system we enjoy today, not that he could patent the science, though that's how the quotation has been manipulated. Hence the disingenuous substitution of "inventing" for the actual language.

Thirty, twenty, ten , two....I really don't care because the guy is just a sore loser who is screaming for attention. He's such an easy target that it's ashame. He still hasn't gotten over being beaten by President Bush and then brushed off for another dolt in John Kerry for the Democratic Party during the last presidential go round.

He needs to slap on an environmentally safe diaper and cry himself to sleep.

Ecological concerns have been a focus since the 70's. The term global warming may have been one that came about in the 80s, but that only means thats when the term got attention.

He meant his fight against Manbearpig. 30 years ago everyone was freaking out about Global Cooling. All the scientists had proof that we were about to enter a new Ice Age.

No, actually the theory of global warming--a plausible one in my opinion--dates back to the early 1960's and a popular method of tracking CO2 levels from layers of ice was developed then. One of the scientists who did so apparently was Al Gore's climatology professors at Harvard. He discusses this briefly in his film. There has been talk of global warming for more than 40 years, although certainly so much more in recent years as it becomes more verifiable. Good question!

Considering he still isn't taking all the precautions he should be taken to slow it even after his movie, I doubt he cared much about it 30 years ago.
