GOD YES! WAIT PLEASE!
I got pregnant on accident, using a condom, two days after my eldest son's 1st birthday. The pregnancy was difficult, my body was and felt completely worn out and worn down 5 months into the pregnancy. By the 8th month, I was secretly scared that my body would not be able to handle the birth. The birth was difficult. I ended up hemorrhaging partially because of the two pregnancies being so close together.
It also took WAY longer to recover from the pregnancy and birth then it did the first time. Honestly, I didn't start feeling normal until about a year after having my second son.
Also, talk to any OB/GYN and they will tell you that it is highly recommended that you wait at least two years between pregnancies because being pregnant depletes your body so much of vital nutrients that it doubles that chance of miscarriage and even your death. They estimate that it takes at LEAST two years to almost recover all nutrients and for your body to heal and recover almost completely. There is scarring in the birth canal and in the womb that are responsible for the miscarriages that have occured in pregnancies that weren't at least two years apart.
Plus, honestly, you will feel like HELL, during the pregnancy and after. And plan on it lasting for awhile. It's really not fair to the baby you are having and the baby you already have there. Also it is very difficult, and I'm saying that nicer then it really is, to raise and care and discipline them when there are that close together.
However, I must admit that the boys are very close. They seem lost when the other isn't around.

My kids are exactly two years apart.
I love them to death, and they're good buddies, but if I was to do it again, I might try to space them 3 years apart instead of 2.
Why? Well, my 3 1/2 year old is so much more reliable, self-sufficient, and helpful now than she was a year ago, and my 1 1/2 year old, while very capable, is still such a baby. Things would just have been a LOT easier.
But there's no perfect time to do anything. As long as you can afford it, do what you want, when you want. Things will work out.

if you are wanting to get pregnant and feel that you are ready to have another baby, then by all means yes! i dont really think there is a perfect space between kids, there are good things about having them close together and im sure there are good things with having them spaced further apart, it depends on how you feel bout it. i myself got pregnant 6 weeks after my first son was born (on accident) and of course i would never have planned to get pregnant that soon after having a baby but i did and things were fine. my boys are 11 months apart and they are VERY CLOSE!!!

I had my first and second 2 years and 3 weeks apart. I wish I would have waited. My body seemed to have needed longer to get healthier again. With my third I waited 3 years and it was so much easier.

2 to 2 1/2 years apart is a good spacing.

Oh no. My two oldest girls are 19 months apart. It's great to have them close together. My youngest is 6 years apart from my middle child. The closer the better. Your oldest will have someone to play with and you can pretty much pass clothes down immediately if they are two of the same. Happy Birthday to baby and to Mom!
