I am a single mom, now pregnant and recently single. The kids dad won't work so he doesnt' have to pay me. So I am going on maternity leave where I am not allowed to work at all. I don't want to do the food bank, I am capable and willing to work, jsut not allowed to while on maternity. So I am thinking of babysitting for cash and stuff under the table and stuff I can do at home and stay with my baby. I need to support my kids. Should I do it? I don't think I'd get caught.

Go for it. Just watch who you work for under the table. I've been doing it for four years now because I cannot use my arms that much now. So I have friends who tell their friends that I can put LP's, 45's, 78's onto CD's and completely wipe all the scratches away without losing the clarity of the tunes/voices. I need the money because my partner has been supporting me for over ten years and paying for all my medical/specialist treatments. Yep go for it ..... you have mouths to feed. Plus you will feel better in yourself with a bit more money.

Babysitting seems to be a nice idea to not only look after other kids but your own baby as well. So the other kids' parents will have to pay you for looking after and other stuffs. Depending on what you're going to look after.

I think it's a good idea. Just don't tire yourself out will do, you still have a baby to feed!
Take care, goodluck!

Yes do what you can for the extra money. No harm. These rules were made as general rules. They were not made for people in your case. You know what abusing these rules are. You know the people that take this time off and work other jobs making money and trying out new jobs and such. Just do what you fel is right.

go for it..nobody will catch you anyways..if you can work then work...what happens when its extremely close to labor and you need the money but cant work? now what? just do it ....your ex husband has to pay regardless if he has a job or not....in my state..my dad had to pay a minumum of 50 a month...even though he had no job....and he paid that for 11 years....

I say yes. Do what you have to do to survive. Think of yourself and your children. As long as you don't do anything illegal and keep you and your baby healthy.
