My soon to be ex husband is trying to join the national guard but in order for him to do that i have to give the ok because we are still married i told him that if he would agree to pay for the divorce i would give him the ok what can i do to assure that he pays for it? Can we write up a contract and have it noterized? Would that hold up in court?

it dosent matter if he refused if you file, then it will automatically go thru after a certain amount of time i wouldnt sign anything unless you have something that is written up about him paying for the divorce, then yes, it will hold up in court

you might want to call legal aid, do you have any kids or are you fighting for any belongings if there is nothing involved and he is wanting the divorce then let him file, I didn't have to pay for mine but I didn't have any kids with him and I didn't fight for anything, he filed and sent me the paper work I signed and mailed them back to him the I got the final divorce papers just a few months ago, you really need to look up online the laws in your state and if you can get alamony or not, black mail I just don't know about that.

Please don't use blackmail to stop a man doing something that is good for him and worthwhile for the community. Just say yes and earn a little respect from him. By all means ask him to pay for the divorce but don't blackmail him to do that. You are more likely to catch a bee with honey rather than vinegar

I would give the OK! He will have to send maintenance $$ to you. Let him file for the divorce and he will end up paying for it. Maybe the distance between you could mend hearts. I'll bet you married him for love...

I am not sure if this would hold up in court or not. you should really call your local courthouse and find out if it will or not. You may also want to talk to an attorney about this as well.
