You should never laugh at your Mother. She has a tender heart, and remember, the acorn doesn't fall far from the tree. Her compassion is admirable.

It isn't weird that your Mom is crying. It is a lot more weird that you are so selfish and self-centered to have no feelings or heart for others.
You should feel blessed that you have a computer to be using.
Some of these wonderful young women live in horrible situations, and are thankful and blessed for every bit of help they are offered.
Your Mom sounds like she is a very caring person and you need to become more like her and open up your heart to the world.
Just a little comment to the Oprah haters on here, she choose to build the school in Africa because African law requires that all families pay for their childrens education. Most young ladies are not educated at all, as they are thought to be lesser citizens than boys.
We have public schooling here in the United States, and she is constantly giving to many charities and organizations in this country. Bet you "haters" wouldn't turn down any of her money, would you? Do you hate all generous hearted people, or is it just a racist comment. Grow up, and realize that our world is made up of everyone of all nationalities and races.
Possibly if you become a bit less self-centered, you will not be such an Oprah-hater.

Hahahaha...There's nothing weird about moms crying while watching Oprah...It happened to most of my family members too...It's just a a sign to show that your mom is really into that particular issue or maybe it's an issue that has been her area of interest..And seeing an achievement in such a scale like Oprah did is something that she can be joyful about and maybe its a very good motivational support for her in realising that nothing is impossible if we we have the intention to make the world a more friendlier place to live...

Not at all. She knows the deep challenges these kids have in that part of the world. For Oprah to have gone out of her way and built a school that is worth 10 of millions of dollars is just phenomenal. You are obviously used to the largess of the west which many western kids are.

Nope-seeing toddlers photos or video clips of an adolescent will convey tears to a discern. once you develop right into a father- you'll likely use a field of tissues. Wait until eventually your baby receives married.booohoo So relax - crying is a classic reaction.

No, it's not weird. I just watched it and it's very touching to watch young girls who had nothing be given an education because they are rich with an inner spirit/light and have worked hard and gotten good grades.
They are probably around your age and couldn't walk to school for fear of being raped. Young South African virgins are raped all the time because ignorant men carrying AIDS believe they can cure themselves by raping a virgin.
And here you are. . . with a name like SEXY CRML. You really should re-evaluate your screen name as well as your callousness toward your mom and these girls.

I don't think that it is weird. It's not a sign of weakness to for any one to cry . That school thing with Oprah was something beautiful, giving opportunities to young girls who would probably not have any. God bless her and apologize to your mom.

Why would you laugh at someone who is clearly sympathizing with a situation that's very bad? The kids in Africa have terrible conditions in which to live. They are sometimes tortured, captured and sold as slaves to foreign countries, and often they have to endure intense famine. It might seem funny to laugh at someone who is crying over that, but she could be thinking about you and your family too.
